Charter schools that are not well funded & do not have the resources students need ultimately need to be shut down. The ones that are funded tend to take from the surrounding public schools & community.
While there are benefits to charter schools there are many negatives that outweigh the pros. The main con is that students at charter schools academically preform worse than public schools.
@carbrill1 It is hard to prepare for the possibility of tragedy bc we never know how severe the tragedy will be. Maintaining a welcoming environment and being a comforting, loving teacher will help ensure that students always feel safe and loved within the classroom.
@jjj002521798 I think some ways to incorporate exercise in the classroom include using videos with activities to get students energy out and an opportunity to move around. Go noodle, just dance, and yoga videos are all great examples and easy ways to let students with autism & without to move.
“As teachers and parents, we can model ways to learn about less familiar cultures and traditions and foster a sense of connection in children and ourselves” (Cowboy 187) What are some ways we can model this? #auctee3100book21 https://t.co/LG6k0fDHGo
@AnneDoxtader This could be destructive to a child’s identity as a person of color because they may feel left out and not as important. This may lead them to not do as well in the activity associated with the book or following along with the book in general.
@steed_perry Programs like these might get cut due to budgets as they are not seen as important/beneficial as core school classes. This is completely untrue and these programs actually motivate many students and shape many students into who they are.
“Debates are a good way to bring children inside history” (Cowhey 135). Debates are good ways to challenge students thinking and recognize their classmates viewpoints but they can also get out of hand. How can teachers ensure that the debates stay civil?

@ReillyDavis13 It is important to know your students past trauma because to make sure they are comfortable within the classroom and you as a teacher do not do/say anything that may trigger them. This also helps build strong relationships with them and helps them feel more comfortable.
@hannahp_au I think continuing to motivate students throughout school years is extremely important and necessary for their success. Encouraging students with words is one of the best ways to continually motivate them.
How do we as teachers make sure we are passionate about every lesson we teach even if it may not be our favorite?

“I am enthusiastic, even passionate, about some subjects and may not be enthusiastic about, or might even dislike, other subjects that I am required to teach. That bias is often reflected in the classroom” (Cowhey 59).

@EscaleraLizzy Teachers can incorporate multicultural education within classrooms by having multicultural fairs, lessons/activities on different cultures, etc. Teachers could also write every holiday/event on class calendar so every student is celebrated.
@steed_perry It is important for teachers to not assume that parents do not care if they are not involved within the school bc they have no background on what they are dealing with. If the seem distant we could reach out to parent 1 on 1 & see if we could help them and ultimately the student
“We have great family diversity at our schools as well. We have students being raised by biological, foster, or adoptive parents, grandparents…” (Cowhey 19).
How can we relate and welcome students from diverse families different from the family we grew up in? #auctee3100book21
