I'm delighted to share that our review on bioengineering yeast for preventing age-related diseases has been published, and I'm especially proud of my talented students for their contribution to this work.
Great talk from @mehran_plantsci on accumulation of alkaloids in Catharanthus roseus for the Arthur C. Neish Young Investigator Award at @psnaofficial 2024.
📢Our last issue of 2023 is now online!
Check out the article behind this month's cover by @codrutaignea & co @BioengMcGill reviewing how yeast can be engineered for the production of plant terpenoids using synthetic biology approaches

Very honored to present my latest work on new-to-nature terpenoids at the #ME15 in Singapore.
Thanks to @MatthewWChang for organizing this amazying event, @PabloINik and @JuliusFredens for co-chairing my session and discussion panel and @jaykeasling for the nice interaction.
Last weekend, we hosted the first of our SynBio Collective workshops!🥼 We aim to allow McGill students to discover synthetic biology research outside of their classes.
Thank you to @McGill_Eng, @McGillSBMS, @THebertMcGill, and @LisaMunter2 for making this initiative possible!
One more step towards expanding the terpenoid kingdom. Our paper on synthesis of C16 terpenoids is finally out in @NatureComms and it can be found here https://t.co/uaHjpQSVOU. Many thanks to everyone involved.
Our latest research has just been published today in the journal Nature. We engineered yeast to produce the cancer therapeutic vinblastine. You can find the work here: https://t.co/kJdVcPDEM1. It is the longest biosynthetic pathway ever refactored into yeast.
I’m a virologist & investor... & I’m hearing people say it’s impossible to make covid vaccine b/c we haven’t been able to make one to any coronaviruses. Not true. We have veterinary vaccines for dog & cow strains. Human one’s not been investment worthy, until now. here’s why...
Hey twitter followers, I’d like to introduce to @MicrobiomDigest aka Elizabeth Bik. She’s a warrior for academic publishing integrity. But she’s seldom recognized despite her critical work. You should all follow her!
It's official! Six new #synbio scientists from across Europe have joined our steering committee, and we are more than happy to welcome them in our team! Together, we will work hard to bring the European #synbiocommunity together 💪 Check their profiles on: https://t.co/LIUf8ZD8JH
A Postdoctoral position in #syntheticbiology#synbio#metabolicengineering is available in the Hanson lab ⬇️⬇️⬇️ Previous experience with plants preferred but *not* required. Applications from microbiologists, chem engineers, biological chemists etc are welcome! Please RT!
