re divorce and children:
I have a theory I call "hot potato" parenting
when a child switches homes every 3-4 days, it allows each parent to brace, and then relax. things that would be intolerable on a continual basis go unresolved because there's always a release valve
what people think sunlight does:
- burns you
- gives you cancer
what it really does:
- lowers the risk of almost all deadly cancers
- boosts testosterone
- increases cardiac output
- lowers blood pressure
- reduces blood glucose
- lowers cholesterol
- makes you more attractive
- increases libido
sunlight is a miracle forgotten health cure, because dermatologists have freaked us out about a little skin aging
Peak Duchamp energy…the “Fountain” test in reverse. Duchamp asked if context could make something art , and @SHL0MS is asking if context can unmake it.
The Greek fisherman is 90+ years old.
He wakes before sunrise, takes his boat out onto open water daily, eats the freshest seafood and shellfish, present in every moment, has a strong feeling of belonging, masters his craft every day, drinks local wine at lunch with men he's known for 70+ years, laughs loudly, has loud debates at dinner, is part of a genuine community, and truly feels alive every moment he lives.
This is what true euphoric living and waking up everyday feeling like you're in heaven looks like when you truly have everything done correctly - namely light, purpose, movement, real nutrition, family, mindset and social environment.
The meaning of life is clearly understood, and he's able to live it out because of his environment and lifestyle - the internal biology, hormones and metabolism which give him the life force, energy and vitality to carry out his purpose.
A big part of their vital, healthy living comes from their diet.
This is what the Mediterranean diet actually was before researchers such as Ancel keys stripped it to a mainly plant based diet and ultimately influenced the modern food pyramid that now demonises saturated fat.
- Raw and aged cheeses - fat soluble vitamins in natural ratios, CLA, bioavailable calcium for optimal
calcium:phosphorus ratio that keeps stress hormones and parathyroid hormone low
- Whole fish and raw shellfish - zinc, iodine, selenium, DHA for thyroid output and androgen hormone synthesis
- Offal in every traditional cuisine - for example liver in Venetian fegato alla veneziana, bone marrow in Milanese ossobuco, kidneys in many traditional French
bistro dishes.
- Collagenous slow-cooked broths - glycine balancing the methionine load from muscle meat
- Local Wine with food in the sun, not alone at night in front of a screen
- fresh fruits - supporting clean glucose oxidation, vitamin C regenerating glutathione and cofactoring collagen synthesis. Eaten in the sun with your people.
- naturally fermented bread
Then there is the modern approach to longevity.
Someone like Brian Johnson will probably get outlived by the Mediterranean fisherman. Has subpar bloodwork. Is vegan because of the "science" but taking 100 supplement pills for breakfast. Stresses about a single ray of sunshine touching his body, and stresses about a single ounce of saturated fat entering his system, which will funnily enough cause more damage to his body than what he thinks the damage of saturated fat will do.

holy fuck, a hair dryer at a Paris airport broke Polymarket weather markets & made someone $34,000 richer
- polymarket was settling Paris temperature bets on a single Météo France sensor sitting near the Charles de Gaulle runway perimeter - basically unguarded
- the guy bought the long-shot outcome (like "22°C" when everyone expected 18°C) for pennies, since nobody thought it'd hit
- then he walked up to the probe and briefly heated the air around it with a portable heat source, spiking the reading just long enough to register as the daily max
- temperature snapped back to normal in minutes, the market resolved in his favor, and he cashed out - twice, on April 6 and April 15, before Météo France caught on and filed charges
hyperstitions.
they told you marriage was a trap, then sold you birth control
they told you birth control was empowerment, then sold you IVF for $50,000
they told you meat was killing you, then sold you seed oils that actually were
they told you to eat fruit loops, then they sold you Ozempic
they told you God isn't real, then sold you antidepressants
they told you the sun caused cancer, then sold you expensive dermatologist screenings & toxic sunscreens
we're being sold out to the highest bidder
What a privilege it is to afford a gym, buy healthy food, pay bills, have legs that walk, eyes that see, a brain that functions, work every day, and take our bodies to their full potential.
What they tell you the sun does:
☉ Damages your skin
Yet research shows sun exposure + its wavelengths help:
☉ DECREASE cancer risk
☉ Lower blood pressure
☉ Decrease inflammation
☉ Improve mitochondrial function
☉ Regulate circadian rhythm (~20% of all genes)
☉ Improve sleep
☉ Improve eczema, acne, psoriasis, Raynaud's, hair loss
☉ Improve immunity
☉ Lower stress
☉ Improve thyroid function
☉ Shed fat
☉ Stop fatty liver
☉ Antimicrobial
You may not realize it now, but:
We are witnessing a once in a lifetime run in markets, driven by the intersection of one of the biggest technological revolutions in history, deregulation, and trillions of dollars of investment.
What a wild ride.
I appreciate this visual of reciprocal narrowing vs. opening. Though for me, the expansion goes much deeper than “happiness”(I believe @hubermanlab was the first to frame this contrast as “addiction vs. enlightenment.”)
Addiction progressively narrows down the agent until there’s almost no agency left in their arena: fewer options, fewer sources of nourishment, life shrinking down to the addictive loop itself, only concerned with where to get the next hit/drink/drug.
The literal opposite trajectory is reciprocal opening — where the agent gains greater agency in a wider arena, creating a positive feedback loop of increasing empowerment and well-being. This is why “enlightenment,” despite the charge around the term, actually kinda fits …. because it’s not just about feeling good, but about radical freedom, the widening of possibility, and re-entering life with near-infinite more ways to move, act, thrive, etc.
The most effective networking strategy I’ve found has nothing to do with conferences, cocktail hours, cold emails, or any of the common ideas you hear.
1) Do interesting things.
2) Share them publicly.
Like-minded people will come to you.
One month later, BlackRock’s commentary echoes my note: Stablecoins fuse crypto’s speed with fiat stability, offering easier USD access amid volatile currencies.
Having spent most of my professional career in macro, I understand the intricacies and needs of the evolving global financial system.
Stablecoins aren't just hype, they are about to reshape trade and payments.
“STABLECOIN RULES COULD BOOST DOLLAR: BLACKROCK
New U.S. stablecoin regulations may strengthen the dollar, say BlackRock strategists. The recently signed Genius Act sets a framework for stablecoins—cryptocurrencies tied to the dollar. This could support dollar dominance by creating a tokenized U.S. dollar system for global payments. It may also give emerging markets easier access to the dollar over unstable local currencies.”
You really don't know what most people have been through or are currently going through.
Don't assume someone's life has been 'easy' because they appear to be doing well.
Something I've learned.
