@BeeNetwork The information board at Sale says the trams are only running to Old Trafford, but doesn't say if that's Altrincham to OT or city centre to OT.
Section 28 didn’t come out of nowhere.
It came from a society where 75% thought homosexuality was wrong.
From a society that feared the sight of a man in drag would corrupt.
From a society that believed ignorance was better for children than any knowledge of gay lives.

@lhancock4bowdon Cycle lanes and sun loungers are good, and fun things. Nice to see positive and optimistic investment instead of incentivising everyone to drive.
I would love to see this concept in @TraffordCouncil for Hawthorn Lane between Stretford and Chorlton, and linking Ashton-upon-Mersey with Urmston, Carrington and Partington.
The Netherlands’ rural cycling network could be the eighth wonder of the world: thousands of miles of smooth, signed, scenic, separated paths connecting every remote corner of the country.
The result? A cycle tourism industry worth €2.4 billion annually to the national economy.
@OliverJCarroll Isn't this is just a photo of the school buses lined up in the bus stop bays, waiting for the children to finish school? No different than it has ever been.
Let the train take the strain. Come walking with us, our walks are planned around public transport, we provide travel and ticket details and a pub at the end
Many thanks, @wesstreeting.
Have to say I really didn't have "stop exploiting those patients you see dying in corridors in horrifically overwhelmed A&Es" on this year's Christmas list.
Please consider reading this short thread in response to your Sunday Times interview. 1/n
HS2 was never going to destroy 108 ancient woodlands, not even before the Tories slashed it to pieces.
I'd like to explain the history of this claim.
It started when @WildlifeTrusts wrote a report, which suggested 108 ancient woodlands would risk loss or significant impact.
This is why HS2 is vital - it unlocks space on the existing railway for commuter & freight trains by putting high-speed intercity trains on a segregated line. If the government doesn't build all of HS2, then the whole UK railway network will face gridlock.
Less than 24 hours since Rishi Sunak’s speech, it’s clear that his plans will mean:
🚨 higher bills for families
🚨 energy insecurity
🚨 losing the race for jobs
🚨 climate failure.
Here’s why: 👇
Is Britain getting a bad deal? @Ben_A_Hopkinson and I looked at 242 infrastructure projects across 14 different countries.
Our conclusion? It costs more to build new tram systems, railways, and roads in Britain than almost anywhere else in the world. 🧵

Manor Avenue in Sale is just over a mile long, serving a large residential area with shops, schools, etc and for large parts has an empty central hatching. I'd love to see that space used as a protected cycle lane.
@BenAndrewsINC Like Richard I've gone for a stylised 'D' with it partially hidden to reflect hidden disabilities, and sectional because many types, the circle of the D also reflecting the wheel/mobility.
