Amazing @nytimes opinion piece from Michelle Yeoh telling it like it is on the "deep existing inequalities" crises expose, and why women's “voices, leadership and participation are key to an inclusive, successful and sustainable [disaster] recovery.” 👏🏽👏🏽

As Pakistan begins to recover from last year's flooding, it was great to speak to @CamillaHodgson about lessons from Pakistan for global approaches to Loss & Damage financing. 1/4
We're working to build a future where countries can access more reliable, dignified, and efficient finance for recovery, but this can only be achieved through honest global discussions about what works and what doesn't. Events in Pakistan provide important lessons for this. 3/4
On a global level, there is no shared understanding of what the biggest risks are, where they are located and who faces them. The global protection gap’ remains unknown and countries often do not have access to high quality risk information.
Had a good discussion with @SirMarkLowcock and @D_G_Alexander on @amolrajan' s Rethink on BBC Radio 4 this morning.

Great to see this ambition from the German @G7. Potentially a big step forward for international collaboration to stop disasters devastating lives. The details will matter though. And the politics.
✨We are thrilled to see @G7 Leaders unite behind the vision of a #GlobalShield to help protect vulnerable people/countries against Climate Risks✨building on the successful work of #InsuResilience Global Partnership and its members🌐

Super-excited to receive Stefan Dercon's second book in the post, @gamblingondev. One chapter in and am already grinning. He was great before his decade at DFID. Now he is one of the greats. A must read for those interested in development.
Very excited to see this facility being established @ucdavis
Evidence on what works to help households manage drought and other climate shocks is essential to reducing poverty and vulnerability. Looking forward to engaging with the lab.
🌪 if you could stop the next tornado from hitting your home
🌩 the next hurricane from wiping out your city
🌽 the next drought from starving your people
wouldn’t you?
Thank you @EmiThePoet. #COP26 needs your voice!
