Thanks to everyone who participated in the book launch event / team-building roundtable the other night, especially my guests @JF_Fey@Dan_Hatman@MarkSchofield. You can check out the recording here: https://t.co/6TD0RFTS1x
@ChiSoxFanMike@Sportsgeek23 He was awesome in college. Huge part of Rice winning the College World Series. But got hurt in the minors and was never quite the same ... except this one day.
Re-reading @davearchie's book this week and this quote from Bill Walsh stood out.
Feels appropriate for the NFL and the world at large right now. Having the humility to recognize when your solutions no longer address the problems you face is important for staying ahead.
@SandoNFL And of course, if some people (like you) are voting for the most qualified and others (like Gregorian) are deliberately leaving off the most qualified because they're so qualified they'll get other chances, it's really hard to hit the 80% mark needed for induction.
@SandoNFL I've only seen Vahe Gregorian explain his vote, not multiple folks. But I find the "only shot" logic backwards; by that logic, he would have been more inclined to vote for a less-qualified coaching candidate because that might be the "only shot" that guy has.
I voted for Bill Belichick. I was on the coaches subcommittee that moved him forward. But enough with the "tell us how you voted'' nonsense. Don't you think somebody who didn't vote for him might say they did just to avoid the shitstorm? Just sayin'.
@FruitOfTheRuach@NEPatsAreBack@ADPatriots Boutte has been good but this statistic is not correct. He had a 6-yard catch against the Bengals on 1st and 10, for instance.
@ASchatzNFL This is probably more of an oddity than anything, right? Like there's no theoretical basis for "getting hot at the end of the year is bad, actually"?
I don't get what Atlanta is doing. Per Blank's statement, they're having the HC and GM both report to a president of football, who will be the final decider. But that guy isn't hired yet and meanwhile they're going forward with interviews and two search firms? Why?
@wegotsoccer has some of the worst customer support I've ever dealt with. No phone #, terrible responsiveness, zero follow through, no attempt to make things right
My @USPS package went out for delivery (in MA) on 11/23, but it was never delivered ... on 11/28, it was inexplicably sent to Bismarck, ND. No updates since then. No revised shipment date. Just "in transit to next facility" for a week.
People on both sides seem to be missing this: they're not done counting votes yet. States that are done counting (including all the swing states) have numbers greater than in 2020. The "missing" votes are all in CA, OR, WA, NY, etc. where it won't affect things.
So I guess the lesson there is, if you have an idea to do something and you have the opportunity to see it through, do it. Even if it "fails," that's OK. For me, at least, it didn't feel like failure. The experience made me mentally tougher and more capable than I was before.
Sales have been disappointing, but despite that, I don't feel like the effort was a failure. I did something, I saw it through, and I gave it my all. That's worth something, in and of itself. I feel like I learned things about myself and my capabilities.
It was never a book with a big enough appeal to be a commercial hit. Still, I hoped it would sell well - for obvious economic reasons, sure, but mostly so people would read it, to get the ideas out there, to change the way people around the NFL media talked about team-building.
I released The Inches We Need one year ago. It was a labor of love. I worked on it for a long time, put it down for a long time, and then picked it up during a period where I was unemployed and decided to finish it. (1/ )
