IMO Adam Smith would be supportive of wide spread, low cost energy as lower energy costs = higher productivity and living standards. All productivity jumps have come from a reduction in cost of energy.

Sure 400 MW is a lot for the AWS data centre but it's far more efficient to have that load in a data centre than tucked into the corner of an office somewhere. The demand isn't going away. Data centres are incentivised to reduce energy consumption as it is the largest cost.

How did a 50%ish full rack use the same energy as 15 kettles for a day. Even at 1 kW a kettle that 15 kW of load and that rack was not packed with CPU and GPU. Probably using about 3 kW in reality #onlinehabit

@TheRealRevK @octopus_energy I didn't get an electricity bill from them between December and October this year. Smart meter sending readings, raised it with Octopus in late August and took nearly two months to get the electricity usage billed. Gas was fine the whole time.
