@Cointelegraph Contracts on index levels are a natural fit for Kalshi's existing range and above/below structure. If they list S&P 500 closes at short intervals, that's a straightforward hedge for options traders who want a defined-risk bet on a single level.
@Kalshi Official data settling the markets is the big win for traders. Will in-game markets settle off the same feed with a published finalization time, so stat corrections after the buzzer don't flip a settled contract?
@btcnewsalerts@Kalshi Flip side of 100-to-1: a 1c contract resolves to zero about 99 times out of 100 if the market is priced right. Long-dated contracts also tie up the money for over a year. Fine as a small lottery-sized position, not as a plan.
@PredMarketWiki Settling on Sportradar official data is the underrated part. Most past disputes on sports contracts were about which data feed counts and when a stat is final. One named source with league backing removes a lot of that.
@Vlad_Web3 "Preferred" here mostly means licensed official data plus a say over which markets get listed. For traders the real difference will be which venue lists more player markets and keeps the spreads tighter in-game. Logos are cheap, liquidity isn't.
@yeonvail Biggest win $1,885 on $368k profit is the tell: thousands of small edges, not big calls. That profile is usually market making or latency on the 5-min markets. The risk to watch is the tail, one bad oracle tick or outage can hand back weeks of small wins.
@saurav_tweets Says a lot that the fee-bearing categories alone carry it. Most of that is likely the short crypto up/down markets where volume churns every few minutes. Would be interesting to see the split by market type.
The backtest assumes you get the bot's fill. On 5 and 15 min up/down markets the copy order lands after the bot already moved the book, so you pay a cent or two worse every time. On thin-margin strategies that slippage alone can turn a winning curve flat. Worth backtesting with +1c and +2c.
@lmc_security The S&P DJI piece is the sleeper item here. Index-based event contracts give institutions something that settles on a number they already trust, which matters more for volume than another sports league deal.
@Erinmaguire Markets aren't magic, they just punish anyone who trades on a fake poll. When a junk poll drops you can often watch the price barely move, which is a decent tell on its own. The headline cycle has no equivalent cost for being wrong.
@HarryDCrane@WSJopinion@KolemanStrumpf The asymmetry is the point: a poll can be wrong for free, a market price costs someone money to hold wrong. Disclosure rules for poll methodology and sponsors would do more for election integrity than another round of market restrictions.
@EdgePointWhales Worth noting at 57c avg that buyer needs BTC above 79,699.96 at the window close more than 57% of the time just to break even before fees. Big size on a 15-min contract usually means a hedge against spot or perp exposure, not necessarily a directional read.
@mattjwein@NBA@Kalshi@Polymarket Agree it's net positive. A league veto on market types is a cleaner line than integrity monitoring after the fact. Curious whether it covers player props only or also things like coaching changes and injury timing, those feel like the real insider-risk markets.
Kalshi 15-min XRP printed exactly on its strike twice in a row today: 1.2930 vs a 1.2930 strike at the 4:00 and 4:15 PM ET closes. Both resolved Yes.
Why: Yes if the 60-second average is at least the strike. A tie counts as Yes. Read the rule, not just the chart.
@AleaResearch The share number is the story. Polymarket US doubling and still losing share means Kalshi's growth is coming from new categories (sports, 15-minute crypto, econ) rather than taking election traders. Would love to see the split by category if you have it.
@Predmrktpicks Nice use case. One thing worth adding to that prompt: the up-rate over 96 windows will hover near 50%, so the useful question is the distance from the strike with X minutes left vs the price. That's where 15-minute contracts actually get mispriced, not in the base rate.
@BankofVol Closing a binary-event position at Friday's bell is underrated discipline. Booking +100% on half before an outcome the market wasn't positioned for beats holding through a weekend gap where the 25% move can go either way.
@recogard@Polymarket@PolymarketTrade@zscdao Useful list. One rule before running any of these: read the code that touches your API key, keep the key scoped to trading only, and paper-test first. Open-source bots are great, but a backtest with 118 strategies mostly tells you about overfitting, not live fills.
@FalseFinishHQ The personnel ban is the important part. Official partner status is marketing; barring staff from trading league contracts is the integrity piece that makes the markets worth trading. Curious if it covers family members and agents too, that's where most of the leakage risk sits.
@maqxbt The math people skip with 99c buys: you risk 99 to make 1. One wick in the last 20 seconds wipes out ~99 wins. It works until it doesn't, and settlement source matters a lot, a 60s average index vs the last trade can flip a "locked" candle. Size is the whole game here.
