@milan_milanovic@Substack@Patreon Patreon does have a useful API. It does have some annoyances though, like no notifications of changes in subscription level without creator-level credentials.
@LionKimbro@emollick Arguably, Judge Dredd got even closer: “The Art of Kenny Who?” (2000 AD, 1986). A publisher scans a rejected artist’s portfolio, uses a machine to imitate his style, invents a synthetic replacement artist, and claims it copied no individual drawing. Generative AI, decades early.
A little announcement: with https://t.co/H3iLGiUjKl, I’ve built an AI assistant for old-school D&D and Gygaxian Greyhawk.
Query lore for free, or log sessions and ask what may happen next and what to prep.

@unclebobmartin@antirez If only you’d written a book about the history of software development and spent decades watching programming abstractions evolve. You might be unusually well placed to offer some perspective on the parallels between today’s AI-assisted coding and last century’s compilers.
@emollick@bonecompiler Yes, The Sentinel (1986). You create a new body at a visible location and transfer into it, so movement is entirely translocation-based. Wonderful game.
@threelinestudio@FuturDe25867 Nice. This sounds like an awesome module. I mean I've read it, just never had a chance to play through it with a group, yet.
@unclebobmartin@essobi I've seen "I'm tired" and also "It's important to take breaks and recover". Made me feel kinda of guilty, they were pretty tough tasks I was giving it.
@misterrcrypto The risk is STRC ~= TerraUSD, MSTR ~= LUNA.
If BTC falls hard, STRC may trade below par. Strategy must raise the dividend, dilute, sell BTC, or break the safety narrative.
That creates bankruptcy risk for MSTR and legal risk if STRC was sold as cash-like “safe yield.”
@milan_milanovic "Be conservative in what you do, be liberal in what you accept from others" -Postel's Law
"Be tolerant with others and strict with yourself" -Marcus Aurelius
Robust systems whether software networks or human relationships require a forgiving interface

1. Is similar to Postel’s law (aka The Robustness Principle) ‘be conservative in what you do, be liberal in what you accept from others’. Maybe Marcus Aurelius inspired one of the fundamental principles of the internet?
@TechCharts Thank you for sharing, Aksel. Great chart, but I find the log y-axis unintuitive for DXY. It is already USD versus a trade-weighted currency basket, rather than an asset priced in depreciating dollars.
@cljack That riddle is a gateway into Gödel/Turing: reason about the answerer, not just the answer. Next: halting problem, “If you say I halt, I loop; if you say I loop, I halt.” Then Gödel: “This statement is not provable here.” Same trapdoor feeling, deeper.
@milan_milanovic Due to the symbol rule, Password1 may be rejected, while Password1! is a weak password that could pass. To NIST’s credit, SP 800-63B corrected course: no composition rules, no arbitrary rotation, breached/common-password checks and strength-meter guidance. https://t.co/EDtS1uVJ5z
If a site doesn’t use a password strength meter, (like Twitter doesn’t), that’s a red flag from a cyber security perspective. Sites that rely on upper case, lower case, number plus special character passwords are insecure and not compliant with govt. regulations e.g NIST 800-63B
@LionKimbro@peterwildeford Reminds me of high school, when a (perfectly decent) teacher told me in front of the class “if you didn't spend all your time on that computer, you could really make something of your life”.
I was learning to program.
@kurtwuckertjr A weak password is just one of several plausible ways this compromise could have occurred. Cases like this are why I don’t think “technical systems are almost always very secure” holds in practice, and why I recommend following NIST 800-63B password guidance.
@fal These emotional transitions are impressive. I don’t know how well the product lives up to the marketing, but I definitely think the research is headed in the right direction.
@ChrisGwinnLA I get that it’s a tech demo, but fundamentals don’t change with length.
A 30–60s clip should make the emotional transition clear. If that moment is skipped with a cut, it’s covering a real limitation, not just a stylistic choice.
