man i did not miss this app at all. the memes were great but the right wing troll factory and hot takes are really awful. glad i uninstalled this app from my phone a while back. see y'all on the next big one.
I came here for memes and twitter delivered. That said, 99.9% of the 'hot takes' from people who are somehow cybersecurity experts starting 12 hours ago are really bad.
We are currently in one of the largest global IT outages in history.
Remember: verify people are who they say they are before taking sensitive actions.
Criminals will attempt to use this IT outage to pretend to be IT to you or you to IT to steal access, passwords, codes, etc.
OMG. The takes on LinkedIn were bad before XZ, but now? They're just mind rot.
Derp: And this is why we don't use OSS tools
Someone: y'all use $vendor, right?
Derp: yep, it's a propriety tool though
SO: they use OSS stack, here's the license file.
Sigh
While all billion-dollar companies are comforting their customers, covering their behinds, rebuilding infra, and writing press statements, I hope someone is looking after the *one* remaining xz maintainer, who's left behind to clean up the aftermath as a "hobby"
xz is a crushing microcosm of the toxic entitlement of users of open source projects who make demands but offer no assistance. And when assistance does come, it’s desperately appreciated.

Republican candidates are very concerned about the kids dying from fentanyl and the cartels that are killing Americans, but they’re not even mentioning the kids dying from guns or the fact that we’re arming cartels.
Happy 17th birthday to EC2. I remember firing up my first m1.medium and the power / freedom I felt when I put a server on the internet in minutes. Pretty cool to be a part of this amazing org. Reading some of the comments on the announcement is fun: https://t.co/5ui6KO4jNK
