@mattyglesias At this point, Biden dropping out of the race is the worst thing that could happen to Trump. All Harris or another of the better contenders need do is choose wisely for VP, say, a centrist Republican or Libertarian they get along with, and the game is over.
#njmornings Investigation continues after multiple fatalities and injuries overnight in multi-vehicle accident on Paterson Plank Road in Jersey City which is closed between Paterson Avenue & Congress Street

@AgnesCallard I say just start doing it. A post-Covid openness is in the air. So I've started greeting most everyone on the street, which is generally considered quite weird in Jersey City and NYC. Asking a rich question might be my next move.
For the Bach fans out there, you may not be aware that the Netherlands Bach Society is in the midst of a giant project to post a high quality video performance of every piece of music he wrote. “All of Bach” is altogether marvelous. Today’s installment:

@dmandl Similar for a friend I used to go to LBC/AF with. Somehow 200+ countries who normally struggle to agree on anything are all collaborating to make up this whole pandemic thing.
@dmandl@WFMU The radio garden app is interesting too. Not so different from tune in but the interface is more fun. You spin the globe looking for stations.
@conor64 Has anyone measured whether banning on social media platforms results in more spread of a story? Book publishers usually love bans: So much free press. NY Post is def getting more visitors with the ban than without.
@Ollie_Cycles@StevenFulop Perhaps it's worth reminding you that it's not up to me. I want someone who solely walks the city because their experience is different from people who primarily bike or drive. That's all.
@Ollie_Cycles@StevenFulop It doesn't. But if we're talking about rules that affect pedestrians the most--because as you pointed out most people are pedestrians--I want someone who is only a pedestrian involved.
@hobokenurbanist@Ollie_Cycles@StevenFulop Because they're the ones that park cars? I agree there should be someone who is solely a pedestrian on the committee.
Btw what's the rationale of quoting national statistics in a conversation about a municipality, particularly when local data is easily available?
@Ollie_Cycles@StevenFulop Your original tweet, the part that made sense to @ the mayor on, was about the percentage of car owners vs non-owners. What % of the non-owners own bikes?
@Ollie_Cycles@StevenFulop I agree there should be a pedestrian on the commission, though not a cyclist as they break about as many rules as motorists do and ones that present a threat to pedestrians.
@ToKTeacher I don't know many objectivists these days but I used to and a lot of them were into unparenting. I remember one adult, initially unparented as a child, who was raised by relatives bc he wanted parenting and his parents refused.
