In 2024, the @NIH convened a working group of pain researchers and clinicians, including @TawfikLab, to help shape the next five years of pain research funding through the HEAL Initiative. The result was a new report outlining 10 priorities for the future of pain medicine.

At first, children whose mothers had an epidural seemed to have slightly more behaviour difficulties at 18 months.
After we allowed for other factors like mother's age, mental health, fear of birth & length of labour, the epidural was not linked to worse behaviour.

Seshagiri Rao Mallampatti, MD the man behind the Mallampatti classification widely used for airway assessment.
He had published his findings in 1985. The study was inspired by him encountering a difficult airway. Rest in Paradise 🙏🏻
