@TheStalwart I love how provacative this is, and there is great insight herein. But I also think AI will really scramble political factions. Tough time to make predictions. But I'll be thinking about this one.
@davidaxelrod@realDonaldTrump@ossoff That is exactly why the comments got attention and it was successful. Please learn from your younger colleagues. There was nothing wrong with what he said at all and the GOP pearl clutching serves him.
@riddllyV4@cremieuxrecueil I bought a used chevy bolt for $25K OTD in 2020. I own it alongside a ICE vehicle. Your chart is completely wrong :( I have spent a total of $1300 in the entire 6 years on maintenance, insurance is way cheaper than my ICE vehicle, and they cost roughly the same amount up front.
@Electroversenet This is misinformation. The Dutch Grid has not expanded transmission capacity sufficiently in order to manage new electricity sources and demands. Fossil fuels still make up ~50% of Dutch generation capacity. Nothing to do with wind or solar.
@dylanmatt The dams don't work if the increased water evaporation means we end up at deadpool. Glen Canyon dam being discussed here was clearly not worth it
@dylanmatt The damming of the American West was useful in its first 2-3 decades, and thereafter became a zombie policy that needlessly destroyed many places and caused massive environmental harm including climate harm (tons of concrete & steel, destroying CO river delta, etc.)
@DKThomp@CarterD Billionaires are capital holders whose wealth has soared spectacularly due to the labor of others. Even if the billionaires were very clever, invented a new product or company, etc., the idea is they should pay more in taxes to support the society that made them rich
@johnarnold The hope in the American West was that half the land would be bought up by private developers, driving up the demand for the govt half (see Jeffersonian Grid). But because water rights are the primary source of value in Western Lands this didn't work out
@buccocapital Speaking from two decades in the film and tv industry, those in the comments who believe YouTube is not a competitor to Hollywood content are wrong. Further, Meta and TikTok should also be included in this chart. But solution is more antitrust enforcement in media, not less.
@museywags@buccocapital Clinton era congress in 93 raised taxes and slowed growth in federal spending while there was a long economic boom that further increased tax revenues. Bush II, Trump I, and Trump II have all lowered taxes dramatically and put things deeply in the red.
