Implementing Google Docs into the classroom would be a fun and effective way to get our students to work together in a collaborative classroom setting. It would also give us information on who actually did what on these group projects. #CIMT400
All, I'm thrilled to share my newest article, which went live this morning and had an unusually circuitous eleven-year path from first draft to publication. It feels good to let this one finally see the light of day! https://t.co/pJ7AkX9D6p
The Every Student Succeeds Act requires states to make data transparent and easy to use, but meeting this requirement hasn’t always been so simple. https://t.co/okX43zSM0m #ESSAPuzzles#ESSA
If any of my fellow English #CIMT400 classmates had a good experiance and want to honor their host teacher... here is a good way to do it! (@_englishtracy @Soto_English @MrGrant_ELA )
We are constantly in awe of the good work that ELA high school teachers do. Take the time to honor one of them by submitting a nomination for the @ncte High School Teacher of Excellence. Applications are due by April 19. https://t.co/BQ2TvQNTYF
I was shocked to hear that some of us didn't have a wonderful experience in the field. I was fortunate to have a great host teacher and hopefully student teaching will be better for @bestwithhess. You will do great things! #CIMT400
This is a really good read, and I also had my students creative write or read in the first fifteen minutes of class most days. I could see the improvement on their writing in only two weeks. #CIMT400
"Once I realized that young writers need practice, practice, practice but don't need me to assess every single thing they write, my writing instruction improved because I could focus on students. Finally." —@TchKimPossible, Continuing the Journey 2 https://t.co/vAtk38lBIR
@_englishtracy My class got to watch spoken-word poetry today. They really enjoyed it and I feel that they understood it better than most of what we discussed in my unit. #CIMT400
I had my students do this assignment the Friday before break. I don't know if they enjoyed tearing the old books and newspapers apart or making the poems more. It was a good day! #CIMT400
It's live! Our 10th Annual Student Poetry Contest is a BLACKOUT POETRY contest.
Please see all the rules, and find lots and lots of inspiration, here: https://t.co/HGTFaVGf9t (Due date: May 9) @ncte
Today I feel accomplished! I finally had my students enjoying figurative language. I had them randomly selected song lyrics from a deck of cards. They collaborated, asked questions, and broadened their horizons on music. #CIMT400#ToYoungForCher#DollyWho
This week in my EFE classroom, we are using song lyrics to relate to poetry. We are taking an everyday song played on the radio and finding the poetry terms embedded in them. #CIMT400
In this article from TETYC, @MaraLeeGrayson explores the potential of a song lyrics-based curriculum to encourage the practice of racial literacy in the first-year composition classroom. https://t.co/p3zBmSEy43
@MrGrant_ELA This is the coolest take on poetry I have found! I really want to try this in my unit, but I would have to tweak it a little. What do you think? Should I go for it?
I’ve been creating a 2019 high school English ‘March Madness Poetry’ bracket focusing exclusively on living poets. My Ss will choose poems from @PoetryFound, analyze them, make real world connections & we will vote every week on which poems ‘advance’ to the finals.💯 @ncte
This week in the field, I stood up in front of the class and explained their worksheet. During this time, an office helper walked into the room (right past my host teacher) and tried to hand me the guidance office slip for a student. I guess I pass as a "real" teacher. #CIMT400
