@gabbyrien @beh353 Hi Gabby! I love your goal of using your nutrition knowledge to make a greater impact by various methods!! I look forward to the future of healthcare and nutrition with providers like us! @beh353#beh353
Through this course, I learned how significant nutrition is to one’s overall health. As a future PA, I will try my best to ensure my patient’s are educated about proper nutrition and any nutrition related concerns are adequately addressed! @beh353#beh353
@GoddardPgodd1@beh353 Hi Paige! I’ve heard that kids are more willing to try different foods or fruits/vegetables when they are involved in the process of growing or making them! This is a great article to use to introduce that to them! #beh353@beh353
This post relates to the lecture given by @EmmaDArpinoRD from this week! It is important to collaborate with nutrition professionals in all cases so instances of misinformation like this example are not put into practice! #beh353@beh353
Perfect example of why people who are not trained in nutrition should not be giving out nutrition advice. There are a variety of reasons why whole milk is not recommended under the age of 12 months, including increased risk for developing type 1 diabetes, internal bleeding, and kidney damage. Please only take infant feeding advice from nutrition experts.
@EmmaDArpinoRD Thank you for your insight on your work as a dietician! I have been curious in how food addiction and BED manifested in our brains, so it was interesting to find out that our brain lights up in the same area for eating and a drug addiction… #beh353@beh353
Hi Karina! This post has great tips on how to make healthy food more enjoyable for all age groups regardless of food preference! Thanks for sharing! #beh353@beh353
This is a good post related to nutrition needs for neurodivergent children and how to make nutrition easier to understand and implement into lives of all children! Good read for parents and future healthcare professionals. #beh353@beh353
Special-Needs Kids Eat Right: Strategies to Help Kids on the Autism Spectrum Focus, Learn, and Thrive, by Judy Converse #RDN#WorldAutismAwarenessDay https://t.co/2sslU0uY6s
This article mentions the importance of good nutrition in children and how to make mealtimes hands-on to help children develop long-term healthy habits. I enjoyed their list of essential vitamins for children and foods that included them. #beh353@beh353

@aaronjmcphs@beh353 Hi Aaron! I completely agree that as future healthcare workers, we need to be understanding that obesity is a rising problem, but not all health issues a “fat” patient is experiencing is going to be solely due to their weight. #beh353@beh353
This quote relates to the Samantha Bee vid about how fat people are often marginalized in healthcare settings. That is unnecessary as being “fat” is not a reason for mistreatment and shaming will not lead to a lower # of “fat people”, just more problems. #beh353@beh353
we can have good faith discussions about food systems and the ways that food systems may impact weight without positioning fat people as punishment for systematic issues.
even in a world where everyone has access to high quality, nutrient dense food, fat people will exist.
The Samantha Bee video clip helped me reflect on how “fat” people are often mistreated in healthcare situations based on their weight. It is important to listen to the patient’s concern instead of blaming it on their physical appearance, to avoid “sizeism”. #beh353@beh353
This is an interesting article on how the trends of obesity could potentially change with the widespread promotion of drugs such as Ozempic and WeGovy. I suggest reading this to see how many Americans view the drugs and its impacts. #beh353@beh353
@Evatu23@beh353 I also thought this fact was interesting! I always knew that genetics played a role in weight, but never considered what exact gene could cause one to remain overweight/obese despite their efforts to change their eating habits. #beh353@beh353
I learned that overweight/obese kids are 5x more likely to be overweight/obese as adults compared to “normal weight” kids! I want to work in pediatrics, so I will focus on helping kids develop healthy eating habits early on to avoid this! #beh353@beh353
@Evatu23@beh353 Hi Eva! This is so relatable as when I’m sad or stressed, I tend to comfort eat too. I tried to combat this habit by having healthier snacks around so that when I do get the urge, I just eat those instead! #beh353@beh353
the barrier i experience is the lack of knowledge i have to plan for, shop, prepare, and cook healthy food. i always try to buy fresh fruits/veggies but never figure out how to implement them into my meals on time b4 they go bad, so i lean towards frozen nowadays. #beh353@beh353
Since this post claims Omega-3 is just "as powerful in predicting early death as smoking", I wonder if taking Omega-3 supplements would work in place of frequent marine sources and be just as effective. #beh353@beh353
Omega-3 is crucial to health. In Japan, where the mean Omega-3 Index is greater than 8%, the expected life span is around 5 years longer than it is in the United States, where the mean Omega-3 Index is about 5%. Marine sources (DHA/EPA omega-3) are optimal.
📢 Research has shown that a low Omega-3 Index is just as powerful in predicting early death as smoking. This landmark finding is rooted in data pulled and analyzed from the Framingham study, one of the longest running studies in the world.

@tjk_4ever@beh353 Hi Qurbonali! This could be a great article to recommend to future patients when asked about vitamins they might benefit from taking. Does this article have any references to studies to indicate that they truly worked when compared to a control? #beh353@beh353
This is the nutrition label from my iron supplements that I try to take daily! I never realized that 1 tablet was actually 250% of the daily value that I needed, and makes me wonder if this could cause adverse effects on my health. #beh353@beh353
