@DietitianOnline This is a great way to upgrade a classic food that most people love to be more nutritious and healthier. I think the whole point of this class isn’t to change what people eat, but rather show them that incorporating healthier ingredients can help them long term. @beh353#beh353
@KolluriNeha@beh353 Hi Neha, I completely agree on the importance of nutrient-dense meals and exercise. It’s easy to eat cheap, processed foods but having healthier alternatives that will sustain us for longer is better for us long term. Lifestyle changes are integral to stay healthy @beh353#beh353
I plan to incorporate nutrition by speaking with my patients on how a proper diet and exercise plan can really go a long way to prevent many issues and sicknesses we face. Taking care of our bodies by eating, sleeping, and exercising can save us long term. @beh353#beh353
@karisbauman@EmmaDArpinoRD@beh353 Hi Karis, I was also surprised to learn that some processed foods can make you healthier. I would have thought this is entirely backward since we are typically taught the opposite, but it's never too late to learn how properly processed foods can be good.

Obesity affected 1.7 million children and adolescents from 2017-2020. Understand how to address weight issues in children and teens with healthy guidelines on https://t.co/hSBiEmCZIE’s “Weight Management for Youth” webpage. https://t.co/vrenmq49TY #EveryKidHealthyWeek
@Nutrition_gov This relates to the talk this week, as junk foods are cheap foods that are typically processed and thus have lower nutritional value. It's readily accessible while having poor nutrition and can be linked to obesity in children and adults as well. @beh353#beh353
@EmmaDArpinoRD This was such an interesting meeting! I didn't know that frozen foods would give you foods at their peak ripeness for a fraction of the cost compared to if it was bought fresh. I would have expected them to give the same amount at the same price. @beh353#beh353
@eshainschool@beh353 Hey Esha, I think this article is great for developing healthy eating habits in kids. They tend to be super picky when eating fruits and veggies. I agree that the list of essential vitamins is a great addition and shows how much better healthy foods are for them. @beh353#beh353
@DietitianOnline@healthykids While I don't necessarily condone tricking kids, they're typically very picky when trying new foods. If this can incorporate a fun way to introduce them to new fruits or veggies, it can be a healthy alternative to all the Easter candy they love eating. @beh353#beh353

This article is great for kids as it'll show them what foods can be great to bring into their diets and tell them why some of the foods they love aren't as healthy as they think. Even if they taste good, doesn't mean they are healthy. @beh353#beh353
If you are eating with teammates, do you ever hesitate to eat a sandwich when others are eating just a salad? Food shaming is too prevalent... and can be hurtful to athletic performance.

@nclarkrd This relates to this week's topic since we are talking about how doctors tend to make patients think their only issue is being fat. If we are shaming people for their size and what they eat, we are not helping them, just being mean. We need to be kind and helpful. @beh353#beh353
@eshainschool@beh353 Hey Esha, I completely agree that we all should be kind to patients, especially since they are seeking help, and being discriminated against based on body shape is the last thing they would want to hear being there. We definitely need to phase out "sizeism". @beh353#beh353
The "Samantha Bee" video taught me that "sizeism" was a real thing. I did not know that doctors tend to blame real issues on being fat. We should promote healthier lifestyles without assuming all problems are due to a patient being fat. @beh353#beh353
@cassandra_59783@beh353 Hey Casey, I was also shocked to realize that there were so many diseases that are linked to obesity. I didn't even realize that infertility can be a consequence of obesity and I am glad that I am now aware of that. This definitely raises concerns to be aware. @beh353#beh353
If you receive a clothing item for Christmas that doesn’t fit, that’s disappointing and frustrating.
BUT YOU DO NOT NEED TO CHANGE YOUR BODY TO FIT IT.
And you do not need to restrict or compensate or start a diet because of that item not fitting you. Be kind to yourself today
@thewellful This relates to this week’s topic because we are speaking about obesity. This post is telling us that we should be happy with who we are and not feel like we are required to change to conform to societal expectations. There shouldn’t be controversy around this. @beh353#beh353
I was shocked to learn that 72% of men and 64% of women are overweight or obese. I did not know the rate of obesity had risen this high, and I will have to advise my friends and family to understand this is an epidemic and we should try to eat healthier. @beh353#beh353
@MyPlate This relates to this week's topic because adding canned/frozen veggies is a great way to have veggies with a longer shelf life, and are cost-effective because we could use them to meal prep instead of worrying about them going bad if we can't cook them the day of. @beh353#beh353
@eshainschool@beh353 Hey Esha, I completely agree that adding vegetables is difficult to do since they go bad so fast and frozen vegetables are probably the easiest way to go, especially since some recipes are designed to use frozen vegetables instead. @beh353#beh353
