the price of compute going up is the mechanism that labs can't control. most capacity planners still have to assume some linear regression based on fairly limited information

H100s are $2.78/hr today vs. $1.95 at the end of april. that's 43% in three months.

paying 2x spot for 110K GB200s and GB300s is what delivery costs when supply / excess capacity is so constrained.

labs are underwriting multi-year revenue off a misinformed price that changes every day let alone every quarter.

the problem is certainty.
