I'm thinking of Carney Maxxing at work
- Bankers haircut / no facial hair
- Wear only nice suits
- "If I may"
- Demand British spelling in all correspondence
- Get the promotion that the other guy really wanted & make him seethe everyday
One thing we should be grateful for is that we happen to be alive during the only stretch of human history in which incomes actually rise. Almost every ancestor you had lived and died inside a society where GDP was basically a flat line, and when it grew, only grew at about the same rate as the rate of population growth.
To put this in perspective, Global income per person was around $800 a year in today's money at the time of Jesus Christ, still around $800 a thousand years later, and had reached only about $1,140 by 1800.
Mughal India held about a quarter of world output but its its per capita income was completely stagnant, or perhaps even declined marginally - at a rate of minus 0.01% a year between 1500 and 1820 while Britain managed 0.27% due to the effects of the Industrial revolution and the enlightenment.
As for British India, the total GDP grew 0.55% a year from 1850 to 1947, nearly all of it due to population growth rather than productivity, per capita income was flat across the entire period from 1820 to 1950, and growth was outright negative in twenty-seven of the fifty years before independence.
India today grows at 6-7% a year in real terms, which doubles the economy in about eleven years and per capita income in about thirteen, so a twenty-two-year-old starting work this year has a good chance of retiring in a country roughly eight times richer than the one he entered, assuming the pace holds. Try explaining that to a farmer in 1650 whose entire lifetime contained maybe one percent of income growth. He would have thought you were describing a different species.
I think I’ve got it: if you use AI more than I do you’re a slop cannon. Conversely, if you use it less you’re a Luddite who can’t adapt to technological change.
I didn’t think autonomy would get nationwide-scale this fast... but here we are 📷!
Our work with @HUMAIN and @TareqAmin_ will bring thousands of trucks to KSA. But this is just the start – followed by robotaxis, ports, mining, construction, and more.
The size, scale and scope is unprecedented! Letssss go! 🚀🚀🚀
@fintech_shark Sure, remittances would rise, but $250 billion is a super generous estimate. Pakistan also have a very deep labour pool for semi-skilled to unskilled labour and is even more dependent on remittances.
My entrepreneurship professor was a sociology graduate who spent most of their time researching "questions of how entrepreneurs and organizations create and negotiate meaning as they interact with their audiences" (??) at one of the premier business schools in North America. The guest speakers were nice, though.
Could not agree more👇university entrepreneurship classes are a waste of time. Good advice here on what schools should actually do. In grad school / hard tech the other thing I’d add is stay out of the way on IP. University TLOs are as counterproductive as pitch competitions.
I think the thing that’s worth internalizing is that we are in fact, very early. Agentic AI is in its infancy in terms of adoption. This means we should expect very confusing data of 1) exposition of open weight models used in enterprise and 2) continued expansion of closed models in enterprise, with little slowdown in either on the horizon.
Good example of how the lack of right wing elites leads to asymmetric journalism. I'm out here uncovering $1.2B government transfers that went unreported for 5 years, while a "5 figure donation" is news to the left.
Off-grid solar microgrids have been conspicuously absent from most hyperscalers’ plans, which is surprising given their ability to achieve enormous scale very fast.
We wrote a piece on how off-grid solar can power the AI race:
