A likely undescribed Bulbophyllum species from section Brachypus just bloomed again in my garden for the first time in about 15 years. I've had it for longer than that, but I nearly killed it a few times. I finally figured it out, and it's growing well again — which is incredibly fortunate, as I've not seen another plant like it!
The flowers of this species are visually very similar to those of B. cerinum and B. katjae, but differ in their significantly larger size. It is also unique within the section in having an arched lower side of the column.
While the plants are also similar in habit to those in section Lepidorhiza (smaller in overall size), the inflorescences carry only a single flower. This is another section of Bulbophyllum in which nearly all of the 21 known species are native to New Guinea (20 of them).

What Israel is doing in Palestine, Japan already did.
The Japanese are not the original inhabitants of the cluster of islands known as Japan today.
The primary indigenous people of this particular archipelago are the Ainu people, who called it Ainu Moshiri (Land of the Ainu), dating back at least 10 000 years ago. Over the years, they were pushed out and marginalised by the ancestors of the modern Japanese.
The Ainu suffered centuries of displacement, forced assimilation, and discrimination, particularly in the late 1800s. They were forced off their lands, banned from traditional hunting/fishing, and renamed as “former aborigines” under the 1899 protection act, which aimed to eradicate their culture.
The Ainu were only recognised as an indigenous people in 2008, and a law for the promotion of Ainu culture was passed in 2019; however, historical injustices persist.
The Ainu still cannot fish their salmon, and dams are still being built that submerge sacred sites. There’s no self-determination, no collective rights and no reparations. It’s just a cultural performance.
The Zionists believe If the Japanese could do it, why shouldn’t they?

my therapist changed my life when he taught me there are 4 types of conversation:
1) small talk (weather, etc)
2) swapping (you tell a story, I tell a story)
3) listening (you tell a story, I listen/validate)
4) problem-solving (you tell me a story, I help solve the problem)
Wahai adik-adikku sayang, membacalah. Seriously, read. History, biography, philosophy... read.
Membacalah, sayang. I cannot stress this enough. Read books. Stop letting AI make a fool out of you.
I'm saying this out of nothing but love. Please. Read.
Hearing this person speak makes me think of what Charles Bukowski said:
'The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.'
unpopular opinion: losing a pet can hurt just as much as losing a person. they loved you without conditions, stayed when everyone else left, and made your worst days survivable. that kind of loss doesn’t disappear just because they had four legs
The best thing about frieren is, we live in a society that pushes a work hard play hard mentality and when you watch frieren you watch characters that have this huge journey ahead of them, who are some of the most powerful characters, and yet they take the time to help others, learn about each other, and enjoy the little things.
We watch small things happen like a character getting food or picking out a gift because these things are actually what define most of our lives and not some big goal we accomplished.
It’s a show that will remind you life will be okay, take it slow, and to not take what you have in front of you for granted.
