You can't underpay, overtask, and put people in places they don't want to live, all at the same time, and expect to compete.

@Supersonic_Red @RSE_VB My parents weren't able to provide me any kind of help financially in adulthood, and that's okay. But damn if it wouldn't have been nice to get the kind of help that you gave your kids- I'd probably be a decade closer to retiring myself.

He's talking about parents that see their kids struggling, despite making good choices, and then buy boats or sports cars.

How do we communicate this to Americans? Of course it’s a popular concept for people who own their homes. “Rob Peter to pay Paul? Sure! I’m not Peter!, and he’s got more than me, he can afford it!” 🙄

It’s redistribution, government picking winners and losers, and government interference in the housing market. It will massively increase rents and bankrupt small investors.

Lumping private equity, foreign ownership, and the displacement effect from illegals together with mom and pop landlords and vacation rental owners is so divisive and demonizes the idea that if you work hard you might be able to save enough to invest in a bit of real estate to build income, fund your retirement, and create a legacy.

And these plans won’t hurt private equity like people think they will. Their pockets are bottomless, and they’re really not as big of an effect on the overall housing market as people think. If they’re manipulating the market, that should be dealt with by enforcing antitrust laws, not socialist taxation policies.

Government spending needs to be massively reduced and only used for things government is mandated to provide. That and a small increase in consumption tax can cover the infrastructure needs currently paid for with property taxes.🇺🇸

The sheer number of times that I have seen folks who are senior to that do dumber things, and willingly put them in writing, absolutely does not drive with that perception. The main reason being there is almost never accountability for it.
