Retired internet firefighter. I think an awful lot about time travel. #vp21 and #toastietwitter. I go viral just often enough to annoy my sister. (He/him.)
For weeks, approximately 90% of my brain has been devoted to launching this new project. I've been playing city-building games for decades now, and I think the genre badly needs a shake-up. If you have opinions about cities and how humans interact with them, check it out!
City-builder games, like SimCity or Cities: Skylines, haven't changed in 30 years, and don't address any of the actual issues of real cities. We want to make a game that engages with subjects like race, disability, and gender, and we're not going to wait.

@shaun_vids I just got a "la la we can't hear you" to my second complaint and escalated to ECU. Note: The ECU's page says to keep complaints under 1000 characters but the textbox allows 5000. I kept mine under 1000 in case they'd be petty enough to discard responses on procedural grounds.
@Telibarb @CurlyKing79 @PoquitoDeTe @sebvandenbrink@rhipratchett The funny thing is, right-wing male transphobes (like the ones who quietly fund TERF groups) argue the exact opposite - that trans women are deceitful because they "trick" men into being attracted to them. Funny how that works.
@CurlyKing79 @Telibarb @PoquitoDeTe @sebvandenbrink@rhipratchett Every time we more-or-less agree on something, you tell me I'm being stupid. Interesting, that.
@anomieatg @RebeccaTransUK1 @sebvandenbrink@rhipratchett No one disputes that different sexes may require, say, different reproductive care. But the claim that biology determines whether someone is inherently dangerous is completely unsupported by data and should be abhorrent in modern society.
@CurlyKing79 @Telibarb @PoquitoDeTe @sebvandenbrink@rhipratchett Phrasing is certainly relevant. People are enculturated to different styles of diction by their society's gender norms. Your name is relevant. And obviously the context of the conversation was relevant. Like I said, dozens if not hundreds of signifiers.
@CurlyKing79 @Telibarb @PoquitoDeTe @sebvandenbrink@rhipratchett Some of these are indeed caused by or affected by biology, but mostly not directly by X/Y chromosomes - usually via hormones, particularly the hormones experienced during puberty. Others are 100% culturally dependent. None are mandatory to be the gender you are.
@CurlyKing79 @Telibarb @PoquitoDeTe @sebvandenbrink@rhipratchett Oh, Lord. Well, this is getting QRT'd out of context, I suppose (Hi, Mumsnet!) but in the modern US, clothes, hair, mannerisms, gestures, phrasing, scent, secondary sex characteristics like body shape and voice, posture, gait, and many other attributes all commonly signal gender.
@anomieatg @RebeccaTransUK1 @sebvandenbrink@rhipratchett If you believe oppression is based on biology, you believe that people are fundamentally constrained by their reproductive organs, and that this can never be overcome. The only logical conclusion is sex-based segregation, regardless of the harm that does to literally everyone.
@CurlyKing79 @Telibarb @PoquitoDeTe @sebvandenbrink@rhipratchett I... really don't know how I'm supposed to explain gender presentation to someone who views it as synonymous with "clothes". Are you being disingenuous?
@rhetorical_joke @Telibarb @PoquitoDeTe @sebvandenbrink@rhipratchett Assuming this is true, in a prison full of cisgender men, their HIV status would be similarly protected. Anyone having PIV or PIA sex with anyone should know that the risk of HIV is higher and take appropriate precautions.
@rhetorical_joke @Telibarb @PoquitoDeTe @sebvandenbrink@rhipratchett Calling people who produce sperm "the dominant class" is literally something I'd expect to hear from Roosh V. People who can gestate have different needs in regards to things like repro health, obviously (trans people are EXTREMELY aware of that) but they're not inherently weak.
