1/15 🧵 I’ve spent an unreasonable amount of time reviewing the Daejon Love situation. The official 49ers narrative raises more questions than answers.
We’re being asked to accept one premise:
Daejon Love “is not on the roster.”
According to whom?
I do not want to take away from Christian Watson's breakout season but Matthew Golden is an absolute fantasy football smash. Nobody was bold enough to say he would be a top 10 wide receiver in yards per route run after 5 weeks
Right next to Garrett Wilson!
There’s elite ball placement. And then there’s Joe Burrow elite ball placement. There’s levels to playing QB.
Joe Burrow is undeniably playing the position better than anyone from a passer’s perspective. No one spins it like Joe. Not even close.

Here were my full scouting notes on Golden:
A twitchy, explosive deep threat WR prospect who has the foot speed and wiggle to be a threat underneath as well. A bit of a lighter frame for an outside WR, but solid size and very good overall athletic ability. Very good top-end play speed to be a vertical threat. Shows very good deep ball tracking over his shoulder to get underneath the ball and haul in difficult catches by using his speed to get underneath the ball. Very good body control on sideline catches to contort his body, ensuring that he can tap his toes in bounds. Very good foot quickness helps with good deceleration ability, allowing him to push vertically before gearing down to maximize separation on curl/comeback routes. Has a developed release package that allows him to get off the snap cleanly vs press at times. Very Good lateral agility allows him to create separation at his route stem without losing speed, while also allowing him to make sharp juke/sidestep moves after the catch. Good explosiveness can make him dangerous after the catch, forcing defenders into bad angles. Does a good job of using eyes and shoulders to manipulate DBs into biting on the wrote route. Good elusiveness after the catch to make defenders miss in open space. Does a good job of high-pointing the ball on underthrow passes with vertial leaping ability and body control. Tends to round off intermediate routes instead of sticking his foot in the dirt, leading to wasted movement. More physical DBs will be able to disrupt him if he can't win with his release package. Some concentration drops when the ball placement isn't perfect. Transferred from Houston in 2024.
