Why were students met with tear gas, lathi charges, pellet guns, and humiliation instead of dialogue?
The nation demands accountability and answers from the government for suppressing the voices and democratic rights of #India’s youth.

CoBRA Guns Down Naga Militant Who Were Behind Killing of Kuki Civilians in Kamjong, Kangpokpi and Ukhrul
Noney, July 29, 2026
One Naga militant who were behind the recent attacks and killing of Kuki civilians in Kamjong, Kangpokpi and Ukhrul districts was gunned down in an encounter with CRPF's elite CoBRA commandos in Manipur's Noney district on Wednesday.
The slain militant has been identified as Lanbilung Riamei, 22, son of Kadirang Riamei of Longmai Noney Bazaar. He was an active cadre of the Naga Village Guard (NVG).
According to police, the gunfight broke out at Bitiang village under Tupul sub-division after a CoBRA team raided a well-established NVG training camp on the basis of specific intelligence inputs about the presence of armed militants. The militants opened indiscriminate fire as the security forces cordoned off the area, forcing the commandos to retaliate.
In the exchange of fire, five others were injured, including two CoBRA personnel, Head Constable Radheshyam and Constable Jitendra Kumar, who sustained minor injuries. Three other Naga militants suffered serious bullet injuries. All injured have been evacuated to Imphal for treatment.
Security sources said the neutralised militant and his group were directly responsible for the series of unprovoked attacks, ambushes, abductions and cold-blooded killing of Kuki villagers and church leaders in Kamjong, Kangpokpi and Ukhrul since May 13.
Intelligence reports revealed that the Bitiang camp was being used as a major base to train new recruits and plan coordinated attacks on Kuki inhabited villages. The camp had become a hub for anti-Kuki operations in the hill districts.
The successful operation by CoBRA commandos is seen as a major blow to Naga militant groups attempting to destabilise peace in the region. Security has been tightened across the Bitiang-Tupul belt with deployment of additional Rapid Action Force and Manipur Police personnel, while combing operations are underway to recover arms and ammunition.

Large quantities of liquor were reportedly being transported by Kacha Naga Tangkhuls, allegedly with the assistance of Central security forces, and were destroyed by Kuki volunteers at Shangkai. The involvement of Central security forces in facilitating in this transportation is deeply concerning.

Kuki Inpi strongly condemns the burning of Kharam Vaiphei Village and warns ZUF-K that a threat to their lives and lands cannot be tolerated indefinitely.
KHRC strongly condemns COCOMI’s 24 May bike rally calling Kukis "narco-terrorists" & "refugees". This violates Article 19(2), 25, 51A(e) & IPC 153A. We demand: 1. Action against YK Dhiren 2. Ban communal rallies 3. Separate administration for Kukis.
Kuknalim is no more. The kacha nagas in manipur accepted the integrity of Manipur. The Naga Narco Terrorist can surrender their arms now. There is no point on holding those guns when you have no interest in your long awaited Kuknalim. Shame Shame
📍Imphal, Manipur: In the so-called Naga protest, slogans of “Long Live Manipur” were clearly heard. Tangkhuls have accepted Manipur’s integrity & moved on from the Nagalim narrative while NSCN-IM keeps misleading Nagas in Nagaland. Dear Nagas of Nagaland wake up @kewekhapetherie
A video statement issued by KSO-Ukhrul Vice President Mercy Khongsai addressed multiple points raised in the 9-minute, 42-second interview, particularly concerning recent tensions and incidents involving the Kuki-Zo and Tangkhul communities.

KOHUR accuses UNC of ‘moral evasion’, demands release of 14 Kuki‑Zo civilians
KOHUR has accused the UNC of deflecting attention from the May 13 ambush that killed three Kuki-Zo clergymen and of ignoring the reported detention of 14 civilians. It has sought an NIA probe and the immediate release of the detained civilians as well as the six missing Naga men.https://t.co/WAggHRtc8P
This @ukhrultimes is a NSCN militant group mouthpiece, working in alliance with VBIG’s, 100’s of indian Nagas, Meities have been killed in Myanmar, within last year, funerals of Naga and Meities militants are happening in India. Never seen questioning Nagas/Meitie militants.
This guy was defeated in Assembly and disguised himself as a self styled social activist, inciting communal violence, hatred, brain washed Biren led Meitei fanatic groups and chaos in the state is the result of his hard work. An FIR filed at Kpi PS , arrest him @manipur_police
Former ADG of BSF Shri. PK Mishra has stated that the killing of the 3 church leaders was carried out by the ZUF-K and NSCN-IM. Such brutal acts against religious leaders and innocent civilians must be condemned in the strongest terms and justice must be delivered without delay.

~ Rebuttal to the kacha naga Tangkhul by "KUKI ORGANISATION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS TRUST" illegal poppy cultivation is not confined to one tribe or one district, Ukhrul is one the most worst effected districts in Manipur, it exists in multiple areas and involves individuals from different communities.
Pointing fingers at others while ignoring one’s own district’s documented situation reflects selective narrative rather than an honest concern for the issue. The debate should be based on official facts and accountability, not ethnic blame or propaganda.
