It is important that you comment during the official budget period before December 9 because @PANYNJ does not use our social media complaints as part of its budget deliberations.
Make your comments so numerous that they can’t ignore transit riders’ requests for better service.
Many effective Vision Zero improvements have been made across the city, but the Heights and Journal Square are falling behind and need their councilpersons to get with the program. Protected bike lanes make roads safer for all road users. Important op-ed: https://t.co/wmVptPnpu0
@eaconner@JerseyCityTimes@yousefjsaleh In the months since the meeting, hundreds of residents have sent over 8 thousand letters to electeds supporting the lane.
@eaconner@JerseyCityTimes The truth is 93% of cyclists and 66% of walkers supported the lane in the summer’s community meeting. @yousefjsaleh ‘s own survey said 70% of residents wanted a PBL. Only 1/3 of trips in our neighborhood are by car.
@PatrickAmbrossi Yup, and on NJTransit buses! I’m for congestion pricing for many reasons. One of those being that reducing car traffic into Manhattan improves commutes for folks in the heights like me who take the bus.
@PATHTrain What work is still ongoing between NWK and journal square? Your link suggests the track replacement is set to be done in November. When will we get more frequent headways?
My brother is visiting me from Philly and took NJTransit from Trenton to Newark. 40 minute headway for the PATH to journal square is infuriating. @PATHTrain it’s hard to take you seriously. Run more trains.
Heights residents are begging for safer streets. On palisades we’ve gotten plastic that’s already destroyed or missing.
There was a hit and run and a pedestrian was struck tonight at this intersection. @StevenFulop@yousefjsaleh please help us.

Hey @yousefjsaleh & @StevenFulop —
How’s getting that DOT grant extended to get a protected bike lane on Manhattan going?
Maybe we can get to work on implementing and iterating instead so we’re not at risk of losing $670k?
MORE real people who demand a fully protected bike lane across the Heights on Manhattan Ave. and Franklin St., instead of LOSING $670,000 in grant funding for the project!! @JerseyCity Council: You must approve this vital, life-saving measure now!
Honored to have once again sponsored the Pumpkin Patch at Pershing Field Garden Friend's Fall Festival. A lot of happy kids + 300 pumpkins given away. Thank you to Debbie, PFGF President and the entire board for their efforts. Happy to see @jcheightsparents @bikejcgram + @hudcostreets - they brought an incredible ride experience for children! Thank you to all who volunteered w/ me to make this pumpkin patch a success. Great to see the community out and enjoying this great park in the #jcheights #jerseycity

4/♾️ And they don’t stop for a long weekend! Meet still more folks who want the fully protected 2-way bike lane across the Heights on Manhattan and Franklin! Tell everyone in charge you want it too, with our easy automated email sender, right here: https://t.co/9SPr4kQYot
2/♾️ More real JC people who want the cross-Heights 🚲 lane! JC professionals and electeds learned from the successful pilot; now they MUST design and approve a fully PROTECTED BIKE LANE! Tell them here: https://t.co/9SPr4kQYot
4. There's a big Heights effort to get a short EW PBL. But that's such a small ask. It's impossible to go from the Heights<->Downtown in a safe way right now. Palisade between Newark and 139 is a raceway. To be honest, the only place people should ride there is the sidewalk. /
@StevenFulop I hope you’ll put the same effort behind the Franklin/Manhattan Ave bike lane in the heights. Our neighborhood has zero protected bike lanes despite this specific corridor being planned for since 2019 and funded in 2022. It’s piloted, funded, and has community support!
@StevenFulop Yes, lead on protected bike lanes, especially the Heights where there are NO protected bike lanes. Only 36 % of trips are made by drivers and the proposed Bikeway is in danger Why are the concerns of drivers being weighed more heavily than those of the most vulnerable road users?
@HudCoStreets@StevenFulop I couldn’t agree more! As a heights resident, I don’t want my neighborhood to be left behind the progress made in the rest of the city. Especially when it’s already paid for. Don’t let this funding for safer streets in the heights slip away!
