The mass grave in Sri Lanka, with children’s clothes and a baby’s bottle among the remains, is a haunting reminder of the war’s atrocities. Justice for the victims and the disappeared demands an independent investigation and real accountability. https://t.co/1pCihVx33v
Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow. There’s only one leader for us. In case there’s any doubt, he is our identity.

The mass graves at Chemmani are a painful reminder of the atrocities committed against Tamils in Sri Lanka. We cannot turn away from the truth. Justice for the disappeared demands an independent international investigation and accountability.
Vimal Yoganathan was in the starting line up as Oldham Athletic returned to the English Football League.
As celebrations began in Wembley, in front of 52,000 fans, he held up a banner adorned with a map of Tamil Eelam, a kartigaipoo, and the words ‘Tamil Eelam, Justice’.
💛❤️
16 years ago, we begged the world to stop the slaughter of Tamils in our homeland. 175,000+ lives lost. Thousands vanished after surrendering.
We’re still fighting to exist.
Brampton’s Tamil Genocide Monument stands for truth, loss, and the hope for justice.

To the Sinhala speakers.
16 years ago a genocide took place. As many as 169,796 Tamils were killed.
Learn more about it. Hear and see the evidence for yourselves.

Today, on the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, I am raising my voice for all the mothers and families in Tamil Eelam who are continuing to uncover the fate of their loved ones. The Tamil Mothers of the Disappeared protests is one of the longest continued demonstrations in history, taking place for over 2700 days (over 7 years), where mothers and family members have been protesting to bring their loved ones back.
The Sri Lankan state orchestrated one of the largest campaigns of enforced disappearances in the world, with over 100,000 Tamil people forcibly disappeared by the state. The crime of enforced disappearance is a crime against humanity under the Rome Statute, ICC’s founding treaty.
On this day, we acknowledge the pain and suffering of the thousands of mothers and family members of the enforced disappeared while staying steadfast in our commitment to seek justice and accountability. #BringBackTamils
Sri Lanka’s system a “control democracy,” where the majority group avoids compromises with other ethnicities and deliberately guards and controls the means of power, creating structural inequalities that are nearly impossible to overcome.

Proud to mark the beginning of the construction of the Tamil Genocide Monument in Brampton.
Thank you to @ncctonline, the Brampton Tamil Association and the Brampton Tamil Seniors Association for this beautiful initiative to remember the over 100,000 victims of the Tamil genocide. Children were murdered, women raped and villages plundered with mass graves by the Sri Lankan regime. We do not forget these innocent lives butchered by a genocidal government.
The Tamil journey to Canada is part of our national story. It was the government of Brian Mulroney which opened up our doors to Tamils fleeing the atrocities of the Sri Lankan regime. It was the government of Stephen Harper who took a principled stand and boycotted the common wealth meeting in Sri Lanka. It was the Ford government in Ontario who added the Tamil genocide to the school curriculum. It was the government of Justin Trudeau who recognized Tamil Genocide Remembrance Day and sanctioned Sri Lanka war criminals with travel bans and asset freezes.
There is much work to do for justice and reconciliation but Canada continues to stand tall in the fight against the barbaric Sri Lankan regime which continues to evade accountability at the International Criminal Court.
CS members, activists & religious leaders who were actively involved in memorial events over the years reflect on the importance of collective memory, what memorialisation means for the Tamil community & its role in passing the collective memory down to next generations.
This week I introduced a resolution recognizing the genocide in Sri Lanka, affirming the Tamil people's right to self-determination, & for an independence referendum to work toward peace.
The U.S. must lead & champion the values of democracy & human rights.

#SriLanka must take meaningful action to determine fates & whereabouts of tens of thousands of people who have been subjected to enforced disappearance over the decades.
