Here is what is really happening. Airbnb is a publicly traded company in a non-growth market at this point (residential short term rentals). The CEO (Mertz) stated their plans. Chesky (founder) compares their current situation to Amazon when AMZN solely sold books then pivoted to many other niches. Airbnb canât grow in the vacation rental industry anymore because theyâve already maxed it out.
The problem that Airbnb encountered was the experience from host to host was completely different. Some host rules: âShut the door, have a safe trip homeâ. Others: âWash the dishes, pull all sheets & put them in washer, start washer, put your trash in can (normal request), haul the trash can down the 50 yard driveway to the road next to mailbox (not normal)â The problem was/is: Zero consistency. The guest experience is NEVER the same from one home to the next. And that creates problems. Just look at all the comments in these original posts from yesterday about various guest experiences.
How do you streamline that experience if youâre Airbnb? You move to the hotel model. Or the âMcDonaldâs modelâ as I refer to it as. You know that McDonaldâs hamburger you get in Iowa is going to taste the same as one that you get from McDonaldâs in NYC or Japan or wherever.
Thatâs where they are going. Why? Because they are trying to capture some of the growth of the hotel industry, which has consistently grown over the last 10 yrs (other than COVID year).
Listen, they say ask and you shall receive, right? So why don't you ask the universe, "Show me how fucking beautiful life can get" Then go about your day.
And please, don't get on your knees begging like you're three months behind on rent and the universe is your landlord. That's lack energy. You keep coming at life like you've got nothing, don't be surprised when you keep getting more of the same. Ask properly and leave it alone
it might sound woo woo, but radiating positive energy is the closest thing to magic i've found. tip generously, compliment strangers, share your knowledge with no expectation of anything in return. give like you have more than enough, and eventually youâll find that you do.
This is actually a condescending view of working-class people. I grew up in a working-class immigrant family and we ate at Red Lobster and The Cheesecake Factory for "fancy nights out." But even we understood that the White House should not look like the inside of a Red Lobster. Working-class people are not culturally illiterate just because their experiences are shaped by their limited means.

Pick a game. Stay. Watch both QBs thru the same lens you watch Dak Prescott with.
Expect them to hit every throw, make every read, miss nothing.
Let me know if they meet the standard or let you down.
I knew a guy that went to prison and only had a flip phone when he went in, got out of prison and got an iPhone 13. Never used an âapp.â
Within two days he figured it all out enough to where he was having sex with women he met on the phone before even finding a job.
Another buddy of mine hasnât gotten laid in 10 years on the outside the entire time while working a high paying office job.
I think about this a lot.
This account is like âlemonade contains high amounts of H2O and an acid named citrus. Ingredient labels puts sugar as the second ingredient meaning itâs the second most commonâ
And all the replies are like âomg thank you for enlightening meâ
This is probably what people mean when they say âdo your own researchâ
@visualizewithme I lost my earring last week, instead of saying "oh, it's gone". I immediatley imagined holding it up to the sky and saying "I found it". The next day I was out walking two block from my home when suddenly I felt lucky and something forced my head to look down. There it was!
Being autistic means you get taught that lying is bad and you should be kind, and you internalize that, and then for the rest of your life everyone thinks youre a stupid idiot because you dont lie at the right times
Recent trip to grocery store w/my dad (aged 78, divorced):
>Insists on being well dressed before we leave
>Befriends an entire family with a cute baby on the way in
>Enthusiasticly gives wine recs to everyone in that section
>Becomes outraged his favorite tequila is behind lock and key
>When I'm in different part of store, starts to hit on skinny Asian woman half his age (she giggles)
>Tells dirty joke while we're in line (gets two laughs)
>Invites chatty female cashier to our family dinner (she politely declines)
The guy was throwing absolute heat. 105 mph fastballs.
Never change, pops.

Here is your answer:
Oh, honey. People growing up have always felt this way, usually under insurmountable odds. The young always face a changing and challenging landscape because the reality of human life is that the landscape is perpetually exactly that. People woke up early to feed their kids and get about the work of their day through plagues, famines, good times, feast days, war, great loves, hard times. You will have your own challenges. AI will warp all our lives. Someoneâs idiot son will cheat in you and ruin your year. Youâll have a beautiful kid or two. Life will surprise you. This is terrifying and mundane all at the same time. Everything is new every generation and yet somehow there is nothing new under the sun. So go to class, go on dates, learn to bake bread, pick a fight with your brother, go live your life. You arenât special and thatâs the best possible news for all of us.
