The 28–30 September 2026 All India Bank Strike is being undertaken after prolonged discussions and representations concerning 5-Day Banking and other unresolved demands. Every strike comes at a personal cost: bank employees sacrifice their salary and livelihood, but continue to raise their voice for a sustainable and customer-friendly banking system.

Every 24x7 banking service has a banker behind it and a family waiting at home. We agreed to the 5-day week in March 2024 and accepted longer weekday hours. The regulator, the insurer and the Government all work 5 days.

Our demand is just. The delay is not.

#WATCH | Chennai, Tamil Nadu | All India Bank Employees' Association (AIBEA) General Secretary CH Venkatachalam says, “Today the strike has been successful all over the country. Nearly eight lakh employees, officers, and managers have participated. The strike has been successful. The main demand in this strike is that, as agreed in the settlement in March 2024, the government should give approval for introducing the five-day banking week. Today, two Saturdays are holidays; the remaining Saturdays are working days. We have agreed to extra working hours from Monday to Friday, and so we have asked for all Saturdays to be holidays… The next strike will be on 28, 29 and 30 September, three continuous days. If it is still not solved, then from October 26 it will be a continuous indefinite strike.”
