🌏⛈️We have completed our training for the Ministry of Emergency Situations of #Uzbekistan on meeting the needs of persons with various forms of disabilities during natural disasters caused by climate change in #Uzbekistan. @EFNetwork @USAIDUzbekistan @USAIDCtrAsia #cripupclimate
Today, the training participants learned about the rights of persons with disabilities in emergency situations caused by climate change and tried to include their rights in the laws and regulations of emergency situations in #Uzbekistan thus being compliant with the CRPD.

Pleasure talking to scientist Dr Sasha Kosanic about her research in Madagascar and the bounty of ecological diversity disabled people should have equitable access to, as well as her advocacy as one of few disabled people in her field #DisabledInStem #CripUpClimate
@PraxisBristol @nicolabeech @BDEFbites Thank you! @desibility does an amazing job wrangling so much disability news! Also we covered @BDEFbites awesome work on @DisDebrief last year :) https://t.co/XTxPtYT2zt #CripUpClimate

I *think* this COP had more disabled people attending than ever and more disabled folks leading and speaking at side events than ever, which is great. Buuut a very long way to go. Check out this thread. #CripUpClimate #COP27 #UNCRPD
🧵 #COP27 ends this week, and disabled people were once again left out of the climate conversation—despite making up 15% of the global population.
To #CripUpClimate, I’m sharing here some of my work and other resources on the intersection of disability & climate justice ♿️🌎⬇️
Disabled people are 1) disproportionately impacted by climate change, 2) harmed by mitigation/adaptation policies, & 3) left to die even in “preparedness” planning.
I hope #COP27 starts to do better and #CripUpClimate♿️. For 15% of the population, it’s a matter of life or death.
A coalition of disabled climate activists 🌎♿️ have started a campaign to #CripUpClimate by engaging with disability justice at #COP27 and beyond ⬇️

Prof Belser: "One of the things that really interests me is whether for some disabled folks, sometimes disability might itself be a kind of invitation to be more attentive what it's like to live with embodied & minded knowledge of our human vulnerability." #CripUpClimate
The abled & the hatefulness that comes out of the environmental movement, from ableism to racism, never ceases to amaze me. Also, how about you go pick on the US military seeing as it’s the #1 polluter in the world & leave disabled people alone. #ableismkills #CripUpClimate
Imagine having the audacity to sealion about medical plastics on a thread of a disabled person (a community leader and staunch activist who is a huge ally on environmental justice no less) who is literally in the fucking ICU.
Ableism knows no bounds.
Included in this anthology is a piece I wrote on the connections between the often underreported & spoken on impacts the climate crisis has on disabled Indigenous people. Direct action is meaningless if it excludes our most vulnerable. #EarthDay22 #CripUpClimate #NativeTwitter
Collected here are a set of essays that grapple with the idea of direct action and eco-sabotage. On one thing these essayists are agreed: protecting private property at the expense of our planet and our children’s lives is not a cost we should be willing to pay.

These two events are today! Be sure to join me & the wonderful people at @DukeDisAlliance & @berkeleyforum for these two talks. I’m covering completely different topics so plenty of knowledge & community space to be had. #DisabilityTwitter #NativeTwitter #CripUpClimate #NTVMedia

Did you know that the US military is the world's largest polluter? Its fuel usage alone makes it the 47th largest greenhouse gas emitter in the world. Join me on April 18th 4pm EDT for a talk with @DukeDisAlliance on how to #CripUpClimate https://t.co/HXzRNWWsE6 #ClimateActionNow

If you’re interested in hearing more of my crip, #NTVNewsTake on #COP26 then look no further than the #RadicalBookfair hosted by @Lighthousebks. My events are on the 11th at 5:30 & 7:30GMT. That’s 5 hours ahead of EST in the US. #CripUpClimate #DisabilityTwitter #NativeTwitter

#COP26 climate march was more of the same ableism, exclusion of disability justice, & the same shitty white people stealing space from Indigenous people. I am very thankful for the time spent with disabled Indigenous relatives. We are the future of the climate movement.
