There are over 1 million people of pension age who pay higher rate tax (i.e. have income of over ยฃ50K) & still qualify for the state pension (ยฃ12K a year, paid by current tax payers). It is a huge injustice to cut working age benefits while leaving the state pension untouched.

Why are pensioners protected by the โtriple lockโ - sothat they will rise with inflation - when public sector workers and other are not afforded this protection. Also tax thresholds are not set to rise at all when inflation is 10 percent. That drags more workers into the tax net.
