Less than 12 HOURS after releasing their CA Notice informing us we had a few days to exit our positions, FINRA U3-Halted #MMTLP "to protect investors" due to "uncertainty in the settlement and clearance process for shares in MMTLP" ... which trapped EVERYONE!
Short shares SHOULD NOT EXIST in a private company! ALL open SHORT positions of MMTLP needed to be closed and any FTDs resolved BEFORE the 1-for-1 share exchange with #NBH. This would’ve required purchasing shares at fair market value based on supply and demand. FINRA feigned concern that purchasers of MMTLP on 12/9/22 and 12/12/22 would not receive NBH. However, those last trading days would’ve been Position Close Only and short sellers and BDs are NEVER ENTITLED to a dividend or share distribution because they don’t own the shares. Rather than protecting retail investors as per their mandate, FINRA seemed more concerned with protecting short hedge funds, as well as brokers who oversold MMTLP, from a massive short-squeeze.
FINRA’s unprecedented #U3Halt caused the very thing they attempted to avert… harm to investors and unsettled shares. FINRA's last-minute rug pull left 65,000 investors holding a BAG OF IOUs while saving their member brokers and short hedge fund pals from TENS OF BILLIONS of dollars in potential losses. SEC's flimsy case against former CEOs @palikaras and @johnbrda is just a diversion and delaying tactic as it has NOTHING to do with this #MMTLPfiasco as it involves alleged actions that predate trading of $MMTLP. Yet, it seems many in Congress are unaware of this fact. Only dirty cops, or filthy regulators, target the victims or whistleblowers.
Who was it that sounded the alarm on the fraudulent trading of Meta Materials' Series A Preferred Shares on OTC Markets in 2021? Why on earth would they do that if they were involved in a pump 'n dump scheme? Why did FINRA/SEC rebuff the CEO's request to stop it and allowed tens of thousands of investors to be defrauded with hundreds of millions of phony shares only to pull the rug out from under us over a year later?
Who pays the salary of FINRA executives including $3,800,000 yearly to Robert W. Cook? How much did FINRA save their member firms, which includes both broker-dealers AND short hedge funds, by halting the settlement of short shares of MMTLP... $10B, $100B, $1T❓ No doubt their buddies/future employers popped the champagne and did a happy dance that would make even @PaulusGreatus envious.
