On May 3,2026, at around 11:30 PM, a public transport vehicle belonging to TOYOTA Hayiruf, which was traveling from Finote Selam to Jawi carrying 18 passengers, was attacked at a place called Jigira Wuha. A horrific massacre was carried out against innocent passengers.
In this brutal attack, 15 people lost their precious lives, including children, women, the driver, and an 8-month pregnant mother.

#Ethiopia: Civilian deaths mount from drone strikes in #Amhara
The number of civilians killed in drone strikes has significantly increased since the conflict in Ethiopia's Amhara region began in April 2023. A mother from West #Gojam described the loss of her 20-year-old son. "He went to the market and never came back," she told DW. "He died after they were struck from the air."
On November 5, a drone strike hit a market in the town of Zibst, killing 43 people, including the 20-year-old student turned second-hand cloth seller. His father said, "I took a car and rushed to the town. I brought him back and buried him in his birthplace." Residents reported three rounds of strikes that also hit a marketplace, elementary school, and health center, with the death toll rising to 51.
ACLED reported 54 airstrikes, including 52 by drones, resulting in 449 fatalities. The Amhara Association in North America (AAA) documented 125 drone and airstrikes, with 754 deaths and 223 injuries. Advocacy Director Hone Mandefro said, "They are massacring innocent people who have no connection to the war, and this is not a mistake."
Ethiopia's government denies targeting civilians. "When we find a group of extremists, we strike with drones," said army chief Field Marshal Birhanu Jula. Legesse Tulu, communications minister, rejected reports of civilian deaths as "unacceptable," insisting strikes are conducted "in a selected and planned manner." Rights groups, however, documented attacks on schools, hospitals, and homes, raising concerns over compliance with international law.
