Listening to today's lecture about shojo manga and more with speaker #HarukoHashimoto proved to be not only very interesting but also an eye-opener to the world of manga for me.

This is just a tricky topic in general as there are other issues.. but to consume things more ethically per #HarukoHashimoto 's advice, I think it is best to look at the source of things and what other publications they have and how they portray it can be a big help in clearing
#HarukoHashimoto mentioned that taking a humanistic point of view of this is incredibly important. It can be easy to consume this media without understanding it, and understanding the actual culture of the place behind it, and the source of the manga.

American mass demand and capitalism affects how we view manga/anime. It all goes back to colonialism. When the people who were importing manga and anime were military. The majority of manga was written by men/military men.
I like how #HarukoHashimoto isnโt afraid to call it like it is. Pushing harmful tropes that sell is a tool of capitalism, America mass importing products from other cultures has roots in colonialism, etc. itโs true and we should say it.
