Much has changed due to that pressure. There are better lanes on both sides of bridge now.

NYC is implementing a transitway similar to the #KingStreetPilot (now #504ever) on 14th St for buses during the #LtrainShutdown
New 14th St Regulations go into effect Monday, August 12:
6AM-10PM: ๐๐ Buses & trucks only between 9th Ave & 3rd Ave. All other vehicles may make local trips, but must turn at the next available right.
10PM-6AM: ๐ All vehicles may make thru trips along the corridor.

No lines, riders shuttled to center of platform.
Train to Brooklyn arrived with room to spare.
Andy Byford (still here) tells me that if the worst that went wrong was malfunctioned countdown clocks he'd have taken it.
