At #OICStatCom14, discussions highlighted the role of #NSOs in driving energy transitions. Reliable and comparable energy statistics are key to tracking progress on #SDG7, scaling renewables, and shaping low-carbon growth policies.
Participants shared experiences on integrating administrative and big data sources, guided by frameworks such as the International Recommendations for Energy Statistics (#IRES) and SEEA-Energy.
As the primary producers of official statistics in line with the UN Fundamental Principles, #NSOs play a pivotal role in generating robust data that inform evidence-based policymaking for clean energy transitions.
Delegates also highlighted the modernization of NSOs through digital transformation. In today’s era of big data and rapid technological change, digitalization is vital to deliver timely, granular, and cost-effective statistics.

On behalf of H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim TAHA, Secretary General of @OIC_OCI, Ms Farha RAMDZAN, from the Department of Economic Affairs, delivered the opening remarks at #OICStatCom14.
She emphasized the pivotal role of #NSOs in compiling and disseminating official statistics to track progress on the OIC-2025 Programme of Action (#PoA) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. She further highlighted the active role of OIC-StatCom in facilitating technical cooperation and sharing best practices among Member States, particularly in developing innovative methods of data collection and analysis, including the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

SESRIC organised a Training Course on “Monetary and Financial Statistics” in collaboration with the Central Bank of #Türkiye (@CentralBank_TR).
The training brought together 3⃣0⃣ participants from the #NSOs and other relevant stakeholders in the National Statistical System (NSS) of 2⃣5⃣ @OIC_OCI countries.
The main objective was to enhance skills in statistical methodologies and best practices in monetary and financial statistics.
As data sources and technologies continue to evolve, ethical considerations were a key focus at #OICStatCom13. In the session of "Ethics for New Data Sources and Technologies", representatives of @OIC_OCI member countries and international experts discussed how #NSOs can uphold #privacy, #accountability, and #comprehensiveness when adopting new technology within the national statistical systems.
