Hey #SciTwitter I'm looking for the most reliable -20 Freezer...because you know...they are either too expensive or NOT reliable...so what is your best 2022 advice for an #OldPI that's moving and doesn't remember to save important threads?
@JulesBass6 @CterminiPhD I'm up for #OldPI! The only trouble is that as I gain experience, I understand more & more the limits of advice! I'm down to: work hard but take breaks, make kindness a priority, buy coffee for your lab members & deploy task management software (even if just a to-do list).
All new PIs should follow @CterminiPhD for tips as they start their own research group. I’ve enjoyed her #NewPI journey! I think us mid and senior career folks should follow her lead and start an #OldPI tag where we can share advice and lessons hard learned! Who’s with me??

Colonel @Cmdr_Hadfield's book is very engaging and layouts his story of becoming an astronaut. There is so much to unpack from this book for anyone (especially us #scientists or #academics #phd #postdocs #newPI #oldPI #AcademicTwitter ;). Highly recommend!

For PhD students it's a good idea to gamble on new PIs, on average they are more into it. I often see that the first graduate students that join a lab end up being really successful.
