Our proof-of-concept pLM-based model, #pLMFold, is trained from scratch to obtain reasonable results with reduced computational overheads in comparison to previous models such as #AlphaFold and #OmegaFold.

This is exactly the type of situation where our knowledge of the protein folding & design problem falls apart. Structure prediction using #OmegaFold, for example, always yielded the closed state of these sequences, offering nothing in terms of testable hypotheses.

#AlphaFold (cyan) (by @DeepMind) vs #OmegaFold (red) (by @HelixonBio) on Abcg2: rmsd = 3.47A. It takes 1hour on an old Nvidia Quadro P6000 to predict the structure by OmegaFold using single amino acid sequence.

@sokrypton Here is an opposite example - Uniprot B2HHE4. #AlphaFold database model is low confidence whereas #OmegaFold models are reasonably good without MSA.
