The whole panel agrees that it's the organisation's responsibility not to offer unpaid placements over 2 weeks. And to introduce robust, paid internship schemes. Some even offer subsidised accommodation! Check out the Book Trade Charity and @SpareRoomProj! #SYPConf18 #SYPDare

Shalini says that more and more candidates are requested flexible working and often publishers are receptive in order to hire the right person for the job. However, there needs to be a balance to avoid abuse of trust. #SYPConf18 #SYPDare

Bonnier have just implement a new recruitment process to amonymise everyone's data and create a fairer system. It's online application only with no CVs, but Anna says that more training is needed across the board so we are as fair as possible in the industry. #SYPConf18 #SYPDare
