Today we have our November #sypLDNbookclub where the group will be discussing Ruth Hogan’s ‘The Keeper of Lost Things’, which was mentioned in our #SYPUpLit panel on Saturday! If you’ve read it, do pop along to @MabelsCG from 7pm for a great discussion.

Great panel in stream 3 of #SYPConf18 We've talked about diversity in books, writing from the heart, representations of teenagers in YA, writing about a kinder world and so much more! I will be reading loads of Up-Lit in the near future! #SYPUpLit

The stealth bestseller: it’s in the readers hands. Rather than us pushing a title, it’s a pull in from the readers. #sypConf18 #SYPUpLit

Do you see people reading a lot of this genre? .@TwoRoadsBooks: There are fewer places that a book can rest. People will go to recommended books as this makes them visible. #SYPUpLit #SYPConf18

Is this the next big thing? #SYPUpLit #SYPconf18 .@miashby: It’s popularity is a lot to do with the state the world is in at the moment. These books make you remember that other people are like you.

What does Up Lit mean to you? #SYPUpLit #SYPwomen .@TwoRoadsBooks: The earliest example is ‘A Christmas Carol’ .@miashby: It’s stories about kindness, people and communities, but also real issues. .@KateMallinder: It’s a lighter take on real issues. It brings in support networks

Uplit books have tough themes in them as well. They are bigger stories about kindness, society, communities and a more “real” side of life - that they can happen to us. @miashby #SYPConf18 #SYPUpLit
