On March 27, 2025, in @Kamonyi District, Gacurabwenge Sector, as we gathered to celebrate International Women’s Day, organized by @WGYB_NGO in collaboration with @unicefrw, I was deeply moved by the incredible women leading the charge in green innovation and entrepreneurship. Their dedication to #climateaction, sustainability, and economic empowerment was nothing short of inspiring.
Walking through the exhibition, I saw firsthand how women are turning challenges into opportunities—from creating biodegradable products to harnessing renewable energy and developing sustainable agriculture solutions. Every idea, every project, every product on display carried a powerful message: women are not just participants in the fight against climate change; they are leaders shaping its solutions.
One of the most memorable moments of the day was honoring five outstanding Green Women Innovators. As we recognized their achievements, I couldn’t help but think about the countless other women who, with the right support, could bring even more transformative solutions to life. These women are proving that sustainability is not just about protecting the planet—it’s about creating jobs, empowering communities, and building a better future for all.
At @WGYB_NGO, we are more committed than ever to empowering women to take the lead in green entrepreneurship and innovation. But inspiration alone is not enough—we must take action.
To truly support women in climate action, we need to:
1. #Invest in women-led green businesses by increasing access to funding and resources.
2. #Equip them with the knowledge and skills through mentorship, training, and capacity-building programs.
3. #Expand market access so their eco-friendly products and solutions can reach wider audiences.
4. #Advocate for policies that promote gender-inclusive climate action and entrepreneurship.
5. #Celebrate and amplify their voices so that their success stories inspire others to follow.
March 27 was more than a celebration—it was a call to action. I walked away with an even stronger belief that when we invest in women, we invest in a sustainable, resilient, and thriving world. Let’s keep this momentum going!
