@LBC PA's scope of practice is scary and unsafe. No one wants them to assist in surgery or lead on childrens health etc, as they dont have the knowledge or experience, but that is whats been happening.

The one thing no one has mentioned re PA issue is that there is a huge mistrust some communities have with Health Orgs and now we add people who are cos playing as Drs. PAs should be honest about their role. Thats the crux of the matter , their honesty. #AskForADr

Susan died following grossly inappropriate and negligent care by a PA. We are told time and time again that these cases are rare, but they shouldn't be happening. PAs simply must act within their competence; something that hasn't been happening.

@MHG1910 @physicianassoci @DrAnimeshSingh I've seen many PA job descriptions saying "no experience required" so nothing surprises me about PAs anymore. I simply despair 😫. And spread the word to people I know in person & on this platform. The entire general public need to do this too to stay safe

@iDrSunny I've read this very interesting thread & think the worst thing of all is that the PA, in all likelihood had no idea of any ramifications of their ego saying 'yes, me' in that context. The only thought was for their halo, when in fact they should have been terrified.

@ollieburtonmed @FPARCP @RCPhysicians @gmcuk My shorthand understanding of this is that a 2yr training in PA Studies will *never* replace the rigorous training of doctors:5-6years of medschool followed by 2yrs postgrad training, then up to 10yrs specialist training.
100% incomparable.
100% not interchangeable.

We desperately need patients to speak up & say “NO, I want to see someone who is qualified to assess/treat/manage a new symptom or problem, manage chronic illness, look through my medication list & do opportunistic work at the same time”.

I’m not sure how much clearer I can be…
If I have a new symptom or problem I don’t want or expect to see a PA, who has done a 2yr course of which 1 MONTH is in general practice.
Or one that chooses which specialty to work in like picking a paint colour👇🏼.
