Dear Bengaluru Commuters,
Now that BMRCL has kept on hold the annual fare hike let us also move temporarily from:
#BoycottMetro to #RollBackFares
Let us remain vigilant to ensure that BMRCL corrects the current arbitrarily determined high fares.
Let us not become a helpless victim, Bengaluru.
Politicians couldn't get BMRCL to hold back on the annual hike pending FFC Report review.
Let's show the power of the common man to BMRCL through fare elasticity.
#BoycottMetro 1 day per week & we'll wipe out BMRCL's evil smirk.
The biggest victim of the unjust Bengaluru Metro fare hike is the common man.
Instead of standing with commuters, the State Government continues to mislead the public. The facts are undeniable - and to highlight this truth, I’ve worn it on my tee today.
The State Govt, admitting to its poor management of finances, sought an increase of metro fares & shifted the burden on the commuters. State Govt officials also sought an annual automatic fare revision, which they said would come into effect from 9th February.
Its own submissions reveal the hike is triggered by its inability to continue Shadow Cash Support, the financial cushion that helped BMRCL manage operational losses and loan repayments while keeping fares affordable.
The CM, DCM's inaction has now placed the burden daily on the lakhs of commuters of Metro. Even a marginal hike in prices disproportionately impacts ordinary citizens.
Congress must stop this blame game. Own up, request a new Fare Fixation Committee and roll back this unjust fare hike.
Watch.

State and centre continue to play ping pong.
The right way is to #boycottmetro. These folks should feel the pinch of lesser tax income and loss of votes.
#RollBackMetroFare Bengaluru has the most expensive metro fares in the country! Namma Metro is heavily over-priced! It has reduced the metro to an elitist mode of transport! This is unacceptable.
Roll Back Metro fares now!

Keep vigil Bengaluru.
Don't let the rhetoric of politicians blaming each other for the fare hike to distract you.
Remember, BMRCL is happily watching the drama with no accountability for it's delays and financial mismanagement.
Embrace #BoycottMetro for 1 day per week🙏🏼

It's amazing that BMRCL has not hiked the Smart Card Day passes by 5%.
A big discount of two rupees is offered!!
Is it a calculation error ?
OR
An act of generosity ?
You decide on this Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, every Monday is #BoycottMetro day for me🙏🏼
Which day is yours?

Who'll listen to common man travelling in metros??
Reply in their own langauge is the only option
Everyone #BoycottMetro 1 day a week to nullify their profits from the upcoming hike is the only solution
State Govt is responsible for the metro fare hike. MoU makes it clear.
Remember, it was on CM's instruction that BMRCL revised fares last year.
If GoI was responsible, letters would have gone from GoK for rollback.
Fact is BMRCL MD is a GoK nominee & BMRCL is Board managed.

The tragedy is the high fares are based on flawed inputs & misapplication of the formula (which wasn't even required)
When the actual audited cost increase is 40%, BMRCL used a formula, misapplied it & got a 71% fare increase.
And now the audacity to hike again!
#BoycottMetro
This is very very wrong. Metro is a public utility used by a large no of people. It needs to have a low fare to
Make sure people use public transport and not 2W’s. Raising fares like this will only create more traffic congestion. Wrong decision by @CMofKarnataka @siddaramaiah @DKShivakumar When govt is giving free bus transport for all women, why raise metro fare where large no of women are users? As it is fares are very high ,Govt runs Metro, huge cost escalation due to bad management and citizens end up paying the price through high fares, where is the accountability? @ashwinmahesh @rk_misra
Public memory is short, so here's a reminder of the hike story, Bengaluru.
- Fearing Court order FFC Report was published
- Clear that mistakes were made (see pic)
- Correct fares would have been lower (see pic)
BMRCL's audacious annual hike must be met with: #BoycottMetro
Public transport is not for profit making it should be service oriented, increasing metro fares is discouraging to use public transport, how can you expect traffic to reduce.Let’s boycott for one day & contribute to traffic @OfficialBMRCL @ChristinMP_ #BoycottMetro

The incremental revenue BMRCL expects from the 5% hike is 121 crores (see pictures below).
Bengaluru commuters, taking turns, must #BoycottMetro for 1 day per work week from 10th Feb to wipe out the unfair revenue of 121 crores.
Let's do it, it's the only way BMRCL listens 🙏🏼
That's it Bengaluru.
Economics is the only tool to counter this unfairness.
Citizens cannot rely on politicians, they must take action.
I will not travel on the metro on Mondays. Although inconvenient, I will do it to register my protest.
Please join me 🙏🏽

This can not go on without amending the errors in FFC report and fares.
Boycotting metro on Thursday and Friday every week if prices are hiked, will switch to Bike.

Where are you while Palestinians starve? The hostages are emaciated because Israel, the terror state, is starving everyone. You’re not journalists. You’re pathetic, compliant wet wipes. #boycottMetro
