Rather than spending money lobbying in #USA. Pakistan's military dominated government should take 3 steps: 1. reach an agreement with @PTI, 2. release @ImranKhanPTI, who is in Jail on bogus charges, and, 3. take these measures by January 20th. These steps will save #Pakistan and avoid a meltdown. They also would help Islamabad's relation with the @realDonaldTrump administration.

In response to today's announcement that military courts have convicted 25 civilians for the PTI-led 9 May riots, HRCP reiterates its position that no civilian should be tried in a military court under any circumstances. This contravenes the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution of Pakistan as well as the international human rights obligations to which Pakistan is a state party.
All civilians accused of violence should have been prosecuted in civilian courts through open public proceedings to protect their right to due process and fair trial.
