I’ve lived in the United States for about 20 years.
New York, #Texas, Las Vegas, Washington, D.C.
And in all that time, I have never seen the level of effort, resources, and attention given to immigrants, while Black communities feel pushed aside.
This is my personal experience. This is what I’ve seen.
Barack Obama was elected with the hope of closing that gap—but in my view, that didn’t happen. His priorities leaned more toward immigration. Many of the same political allies around him such as Hakeem jeffries have been working together since around 2007, and that influence is still visible in leadership today.
I’m speaking from what I’ve personally witnessed over two decades.
