I've photographed hundreds of Common Froghoppers (Philaenus spumarius) over the years and I thought I'd seen every colour pattern there was to see. Not so! This pattern is entirely new to me. Has anyone else seen it before? Leicestershire, VC55, 2020-08-15. @BritishBugs
Every year, 1 plant species per English county goes extinct. And thanks to the governments reforms in the planning system, the nationally scarce Maiden Pink may be next for South Lancashire, where itโs last native site, Ainsdale Hope School, is under threat from development ๐ก๐ญ
Very pleased to today announce the publication of our report highlighting the conservation value of @collieryspoil sites. The report can be freely downloaded via this link - https://t.co/PCmWlaK93q.
PLEASE SHARE - colliery spoil deserves to be appreciated and conserved!
A new leafhopper species has been named in honour of Dr Michael R. Wilson of @Museum_Cardiff. The new species, ๐๐๐ง๐๐ฅ๐๐ฎ๐จ๐๐๐๐ง ๐ฌ๐๐ก๐จ๐ค๐ฃ๐, is described from Israel by colleagues from @TelAvivUni and @PrairieResInst and published in @Zootaxa https://t.co/BSNYPconR9
For the record, the botanical community are lovely. Seeing misinformation from someone who has a large platform and is trusted for natural history information is kinda frustrating. โค @Love_plants campaign for natural verges and #nomowmay
Good afternoon angry botanists . Youโve all been reading โHow not to make friends and fail to influence peopleโ during lockdown I see . So thanks , your supposition and pedantry is really useful . Maybe think โbigger pictureโ and โget the ball rollingโ before going all Hemlock?
Agreed - we should be talking about this more. Best way to tackle rising populations? Invest in education for girls and women, which also helps reduce poverty, end FGM and child brides and make the world a better place ๐ฉ๐ฟโ๐๐
Just struck me that in all the coverage every day on BBC News, of the perils of climate change and ways to slow it - paring down lifestyles etc - I have never once heard anyone talk about the massive rise in the global human population, mainly in developing countries. Why not?
Two years ago my new year's resolution was to buy all my clothes #secondhand.
Now I don't think I'm going to buy anything new ever again unless I can't avoid it, ๐ not adding to capitalism, supporting charities, getting to know the people in my local charity shops ๐.
My favourite photo from @MuseolaTertulia, Colombia. Walking through and seeing the walls of the dissappeared was a bit emotional thanks to recently reading @aranama Silver, sword and stone and missing my family. This photo helped a lot though #solotravel
<3 @vanessa_vash but where is the international media @guardianeco, surely there must be studies in local universities studying the extent and damage?
You are wrong ! @vanessa_vash from Uganda has been louder talking about the exact disaster for so long but because she is an African, she has been deliberately denied international media coverage and attention as well .@BBCWorld@AJEnglish@France24_en
