For clarity, as an opponent of HS2, my point was less the poor quality of the viaduct; it was that the Council are deluded if they think they’ll get “quality mitigation” on the route into Leeds from their HS2 friends judging by cost cutting already happening @hs2sowhat
@stuartbruce@HS2ltd@hs2sowhat We get massive disruption to local towns and villages from construction traffic. Closures and diversions. TWENTY construction compounds. A mega 24hr train cleaning depot in the greenbelt. Local outstanding primary school under threat. #HS2 apologists wake up to the damage!
What about the towns that are disadvantaged by HS2? Does nobody care about us? In Rothwell they smash through our villages, clog our roads, close our station and destroy our countryside. What do we get? Absolutely nothing but pain and utter contempt from @HS2ltd Back @hs2sowhat
Misleading article.
- Of course fares will not go down
- Excludes high running costs & the impact of HS2’s massive energy needs
- On capacity, doesn’t mention decline in freight & only considers commuter trains on main lines served by HS2
- Trains on E/W main lines are not full
Damning report into @HS2. Someone with power says what @hs2sowhat have been saying all along. @GoltonStewart. Lords call for ‘pause’ to construction of £56bn HS2 rail line https://t.co/1canXnjjB8 via @financialtimes
Would you trust #HS2 if it loses FOI requests? https://t.co/03TAZ0CDx0
A month ago it sent me a reply to someone else's FOI. Utterly incompetent. How did it arrive at the "connect 30 million" figure? That's nearly half the UK population! @allancook1949@CommonsPAC@NAOorguk
This monstrous white elephant devastates my constituency. The cost is likely to be £100 billion minimum when the rest of the country needs real investment in local railways. https://t.co/CCcpnjGvjQ
We've got over 4000 signatures already on our petition, from all over Great Britain: With 'notice to proceed' delayed again, halt all #HS2 enabling work immediately. https://t.co/ZZxT80XvPX
