It was a great privilege to speak at this year's @BigSkyDevCon and share the stage with some true legends and awesome projects.
My talk was on the server-driven UI language (hypermedia application markup i.e. HAM) i created and the Hype Apps system to build apps.
Basically you build fancy apps with all the best tools out there for html - utility design, hypermedia controls, reactive local state, complete ui kits -- but you can update them via the server and because its flutter under the hood they run on literally any device.
At the time the showcase app wasn't approved on the app store, but now it is. If you are curious, try this app out. Every bit of it is written in HAM (long press to see the code), and every bit of it loading from my server.

@g2sans Yeah you still need to pass an initial review, and should resubmit on major changes. But the server driven ui seal has been broken, most big systems have some version of it now
Hype apps is going to be the best of both worlds: natively compiled and smooth but fully server driven so you don’t wait on ui updates. Working like crazy to put it out there!
@CoreyGallon It’s like they said “it’s a soccer map so we have to use a soccer field as the background” even though it’s like 6 fields in an Irregular shape
phone apps, desktop apps, web apps, apps at a restaurant... just heard someone say they're 'going through apps' and they meant job applications. i'm calling for a total and complete shutdown of things being called apps until we can figure out what is going on
@DelaneyGillilan I am building Hype Apps, an app builder for your app devices. It comes with two apps: a phone app that can run your apps and a desktop app that you use to build your phone, iPad, watch, and desktop apps.
It also comes with a CLI, which may or may not be an app.
@ibuildthecloud He should have said he asked grok to do a flying roadster prototype, shown the video to half-laughs, then faked a phone call from staff saying oops actually that video is real
Rails and Laravel and Django are having a well-deserved “moment” right now. Ai makes these battery included frameworks insanely powerful and efficient to work with
Calling all employers — If you are hiring for a stack with a big back end (you know who you are), post your job with @lexandermorgan new site

As I talk about in the episode linked below: there are more of these jobs than it might appear!
@hypeapps https://t.co/Jcev96SQTs episode. app built in datastar, no datastar jobs. We are too boring to be called out in a job listing hopefully forever.
Using AI as an excuse to move toward lower level languages feels completely backwards to me
“We don’t need to understand all this complexity, AI does” is exactly the wrong direction. Human understanding is required for every functioning software system
The goal should be high level languages with low level performance, not low level languages obscured and incomprehensible having to be explained by a non-deterministic AI translation layer
What we need is even higher level languages optimized for human understanding. That is the modern bottleneck we’re facing right now
