[Ways and Means Committee @WaysandMeansGOP]

PASSED: The Ways and Means Committee just passed the Digital Asset Tax Certainty Act — a historic step toward establishing a clear tax framework for digital assets.

Through strong bipartisan collaboration, Republicans and Democrats came together to modernize outdated tax rules that have failed to keep pace as digital assets become part of everyday life for millions of Americans, putting them on a level playing field with traditional financial assets.

Finally, after 14 months of uncertainty, my fix to restore the 100% tax deduction for gambling losses has been passed out of committee.

I was the first Member of Congress to recognize this injustice when I introduced my provision to correct it on July 7, 2025. Since then, I have amplified this issue nationally and brought it to the attention of my colleagues, including members of @WaysandMeansGOP.

Now it is time for us to push this commonsense solution to the House floor, to the Senate, and finally to the President’s desk. I won’t stop fighting until we get this over the finish line.

[Rep. Steven Horsford @RepHorsford]

My FULL HOUSE Act is about bringing fairness back to our tax code. You should never be taxed on income you never actually received.

Very pleased to see that my gambling loss tax deduction fix has finally been included in a tax package. I encourage my colleagues to push it through @WaysandMeansGOP this week as quickly as possible.

[Michael Strong @flowidealism]

John Taylor Gatto was named New York State Teacher of the Year. Upon receiving the award, he quit and spent the rest of his life writing devastating critiques of the educational system he had mastered.

Gatto argued that regardless of the official curriculum, schools actually teach seven hidden lessons. The first is confusion. Students learn disconnected facts across dozens of subjects with no integration or meaning. The second is class position. Students learn their place in the social hierarchy. The third is indifference. Students learn that nothing is worth finishing because the bell always rings. The fourth is emotional dependency. Students learn to surrender their will to a chain of command. The fifth is intellectual dependency. Students learn to wait for experts to tell them what to think. The sixth is provisional self-esteem. Students learn that their worth depends on expert evaluation. The seventh is that they are always being watched and have no privacy.

These lessons, Gatto argued, are the actual function of schooling. The explicit curriculum of reading, writing, and arithmetic is almost incidental. The real purpose is to produce passive, dependent, compliant citizens who wait for authorities to tell them what to do and think.

Trad schooling amounts to thirteen years of training in being passive and dependent.

I have seen this play out with hundreds of students. When I created Montessori middle schools in the San Francisco Bay Area, about half the students came up through Montessori elementary and about half came from public schools. When we opened, the Montessori kids immediately began doing their work, taking initiative, choosing what to tackle first. The public school students were lost. They would stare at their desks until we walked over and helped them plan their morning. It took at least a semester, sometimes a full year, before they could function in an environment that asked them to direct their own learning.

These were not less intelligent children. They had simply been trained differently. For years, someone else had made all the decisions about what they would do, when they would do it, and how they would do it. When that structure was removed, they did not know how to operate.

Agency is natural to children unless we train it out of them.

When I coach parents on evaluating their children's education, I tell them to ignore grades entirely. The question is whether their children are taking initiative, being responsible, and becoming empowered moral beings. If a child is getting straight A's but has no initiative and no sense of personal responsibility, that child is being damaged by their education regardless of how it looks on paper.

PokerNews’ own @ChadAHolloway sat down with Rep. @dinatitus to discuss the impact of the new gambling tax laws on poker—and her efforts to push the Fair Bet Act. ♠️ 🎥

[Dina Titus @repdinatitus]

My FAIR BET Act has been sitting in @WaysMeansCmte for eight months, despite commitments from @HouseGOP to restore the full gambling loss deduction.

I am now filing a discharge petition to bring it to the House floor for a vote.

Both high-stakes and hobby gamblers are struggling, and local economies like #OnlyInDistrictOne that depend on gaming revenue are hurting. We need 218 signatures to bring this commonsense fix to the floor. Call your representatives and tell them to sign on.

[Dina Titus @repdinatitus]

I’m still fighting for this fair tax policy. I submitted another amendment to the funding bill this week to restore the gambling loss tax deduction to 100%.

Republican leadership, however, refused to make my amendment in order and hold a vote on this commonsense fix.

[AnthroVet50 @spooked75]

I grew up Republican. Still am in many ways. But MAGA pushed the party so far right that I get called a liberal now.

Let me explain the difference:

Traditional Republicans believe in:

• Fiscal responsibility (balanced budgets, not exploding deficits for tax cuts)
• Limited government (actual small government, not big government that punishes your enemies)
• Strong institutions (courts, elections, constitutional norms matter)
• Personal responsibility (your actions have consequences)
• Free markets (not tariffs and trade wars)
• Strong alliances (NATO, international partnerships)
• Rule of law (no one is above it, including the president)
MAGA Republicans believe in:

• Whatever Trump says today (even if it contradicts yesterday)
• Loyalty tests (agree 100% or you're a traitor/RINO)
• Conspiracy theories over facts (stolen election, deep state, QAnon adjacent stuff)
• Grievance politics (owning the libs > actual policy)
• Personality cult (Trump loyalty above party, above country, above truth)
• Performative outrage (culture war theater instead of governance)
• Ends justify means (storm the Capitol, ignore election results, whatever it takes)
I didn't move left. The party moved off a cliff.

I still believe in conservative principles. But when you say "maybe we should respect election results" or "fiscal responsibility matters" or "rule of law applies to everyone," you get called a liberal.

That's not conservatism. That's a cult.

[Dina Titus @repdinatitus]

I testified before the House Rules Committee about the urgent need to restore the gambling loss tax deduction to 100%.

I submitted an amendment to this week’s Appropriations bill that would do just that.

It’s time to get this fair, common sense fix over the finish line.

[Fairplaygov @fairplaygov]

Gambling tax loss 90% deduction cap has another chance of being reversed today in the House Rules Committee.

Reps. Miller (R-OH) & Horsford (D-NV), who intro'ed FULL HOUSE Act, filed it as amendment to DoD appropriations bill. They are now joined Malliotakis (R-NY) & Lee (D-NV).

[Nicholas Katz @iamwaterLV]

@PokerCPAs @russcfox @Protentialmn

[Nicholas Katz @iamwaterLV]

Does anybody actually know how this tax bill 90% works if it's not repealed?

Say I play an online Sunday, 5k buyins, 3k cashes. Are we looking at:

A. Net the results to -2k, then take 90% of that for a -1,800 day or
B. Only deduct 4500 of my buyins then net for a -1500 day?

[Dina Titus @repdinatitus]

🎲 Since the Senate inserted a provision in the Big, BS Budget Bill to lower the gambling loss deduction to 90%, I have been leading the bipartisan, bicameral effort to correct this unfair tax policy so that gamers do not have to pay taxes on phantom income.

Now I am again urging @RepJasonSmith to finally do what’s right and include a fix in the next @WaysMeansCmte markup that protects many livelihoods #OnlyinDistrictOne.

[Dina Titus @repdinatitus]

Exciting news for the #FAIRBETAct and the gaming community. The Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, @TomColeOK04, has just co-sponsored my legislation to rightfully restore the tax code for gamers.

Nobody should have to pay taxes on phantom income. Let’s get this done.

[Lele @Lelepokerr]

🚨POKER PLAYERS & SPORTS BETTORS. Let me introduce you to the GATEKEEPER to getting a hearing for the Fair Bet Act.
@RepJasonSmith's direct comment on 7/25/25 at a field hearing in Las Vegas: “For those of you concerned about this change, members on both sides of the aisle have heard you and many members ... are working to address it before it goes into effect on Jan. 1.” REPOST and ask @RepJasonSmith why hasn’t he done a single thing to keep his word? The country is watching, especially Missouri! Call his office and ask WHY? 202-225-4404

[Dina Titus @repdinatitus]

As we approach the end of the year, I want to talk about the urgency of passing my FAIR BET Act. #TitusTalk

[Lele @Lelepokerr]

POKER PLAYERS, SPORTS BETTORS!!! @repdinatitus is requesting @RepJasonSmith to put a hearing on the books for the fair bet act. Your voice can be hard if you just call his office and tell him to help his fellow Americans! Remember, we all voted him in there he’s working for us! Our words are being heard! Please help!

[Dina Titus @repdinatitus]

Today I am urging @WaysMeansCmte Chairman @RepJasonSmith to place the FAIR BET Act on the committee calendar. Now is the time to fix the unfair 90% tax deduction for gambling losses that negatively impacts professional and casual players. See my full letter to the Chairman below.
