If you can’t make your company interesting to a VC who is literally only in business to fund startups, how are you going to make it interesting to recruits and customers?
When Philonicus the Thessalian brought Bucephalus to sell to Philip, asking for thirteen talents, they went down to the plain to test the horse. However, it appeared wild and extremely difficult to handle, it would not accept a rider, nor tolerate the voice of any of Philip’s attendants, but instead, it became more agitated with each attempt.
When Philip grew angry and ordered the horse to be led away, deeming it too wild and unmanageable,
Alexander, who was present, exclaimed: "What a horse I am losing, simply because they lack the skill and courage to handle it!"
At first, Philip remained silent. But as Alexander kept repeating the same words, Philip finally said: "Are you criticizing your elders because you believe you know more, or because you think you can handle the horse?"
Alexander replied: "I could handle this horse better than anyone."
"And if you fail, what penalty will you pay for your recklessness?" asked Philip.
"By Zeus," Alexander swore, "I will pay the full price of the horse myself!"
At this, everyone laughed. Yet, Philip agreed to the wager.
Immediately, Alexander approached the horse and, taking the reins, turned it toward the sun, for he had noticed that the horse was frightened by its own moving shadow, cast before it. He let the horse gallop lightly for a while, stroking it whenever it seemed tense or aggressive. Then, he quietly removed his cloak and leapt onto its back, sitting firmly in place.
He gently pulled the reins, tightened his grip without using a whip or spurs, and when he felt the horse had relaxed and was ready to run, he let it go, guiding it with a stronger voice and pressing with his legs.
At first, Philip and his attendants watched in tense silence. But when Alexander turned the horse and rode back, proud and composed, everyone erupted in cheers.
Philip, deeply moved, is said to have shed a tear of joy and, as Alexander dismounted, he said to him:
"My son, you must seek a kingdom worthy of yourself, for Macedonia is too small for you."

Remember that the UK police arrested and were going to charge this little 12 year old girl after she was assaulted by a migrant rapist. The only reason it didn't happen and the foreign rapist was arrested instead is because of the backlash on social media.
Fable new trailer is a total miss:
Smug Girl Boss announced: "the world needs a hero, that hero is me."
Trailer has traces of DEI slop everywhere. Total miss.
@GBPolitcs It's insane to me that any white person with self respect could continue voting for political parties who aim to systematically disadvantage them
All of this messaging is centered around anti-white sentiment, not racial "equality"
Mr. Beast proved that they don't want institutions or a foundational system on which to build civilization. He dug simple wells in water starved areas. The locals then proceeded to blame him personally because he wasn't coming back to maintain them.
The goal is to make Emily Wilson's feminist translation of the Odyssey the only translation available to anyone. It's already universal across university curriculums and it's the only one you are likely to ever see in bookstores again.
The evil intent is palpable.
There is an crazy mainstream view that just because something isn’t “there” yet that it should be ridiculed and abandoned.
You have two choices. Listen and stop, or push through.
“Push through” gave us the airplane, the internet, space and virtually everything else in modern life.
“Stop” is the worst outcome.
This stretch should be mandatory for people who sit at desks.
It's called the Tactical Frog.
Your hip flexors shorten when you sit. Your glutes stop firing. Your lower back picks up the slack and starts screaming.
The Tactical Frog targets the inner groin, hip flexors, and adductors at the same time.
How to do it:
Get on all fours. Slide your knees out wide, feet flat and facing out. Lower your hips back slowly until you feel a deep stretch through the inner thighs and groin. Hold for 60 to 90 seconds. Breathe into the tight spots.
It should feel uncomfortable but not painful.
Do it every morning before you open your laptop. Do it again before bed.
I've had clients eliminate years of lower back pain just by making this a daily habit because back wasn't the problem. The hips were.
Sitting is not neutral. It's a slow accumulation of tension that eventually becomes injury.
This can be the antidote.
I’ve written to Steven several times asking him why if he’s so smart about dopamine that he ignores the data showing peripheral and central dopamine can rise in parallel. We definitely need more data on that.
I’ve also asked him why the lead author on the dopamine paper that he parades around (his last real publication was 2005) contradicts his very conclusions. I’ve invited him on the podcast, but he’d rather throw darts at people like @SahilBloom who’s actually out there doing great things and helping people with his book and inspiring people. I do hope Steven will have a public conversation with me about dopamine at some point because he’s also put similar arguments against my colleague Anna Lembke’s dopamine dynamics statements and ignored the counter evidence. Great to be scholarly and academic, but that means actually having a conversation where counter points to the counterpoints can be raised.
After the remembrance of Henry Nowak in Stockholm today, a 14-year-old attending the event was confronted by police and pressured to leave.
“Are you interested in the extreme right?”
“You could become very exposed and vulnerable.”
“Do you know what you’re getting yourself into?”
“Do your parents know that you’re here?”
Why is a teenager attending a meeting by @AFS_riks, a registered political party, a police concern, @polisen_sthlm?
