When Julius Caesar was 32 he cried at the feet of a statue of Alexander The Great because he had achieved so little compared to him.
He later went on to rule the Roman world, become deified, lay the blueprint for european leadership for nearly 2,000 years and even had a month named after him.
It's never too late to get started.
Today I tried paying two bills online: British Gas and Thames Water.
BOTH websites are down.
How are these companies still operating? I literally cannot give them my money.
There's something magical happening in Barcelona at the moment
The tech ecosystem feels invigorated and there's a real chance it could be one of big tech cities of Europe.
Last week I was at the @ProjectEurope_ hackathon. @Kitty_Mayo_ and Jade always do an amazing job bringing together great people from the local ecosystem.
I was also able to meet some amazing founders thanks to @DidacLee and team at Masia, and the ecosystem is POPPING.
Also I am also trying to experiment with new types of content. Let me know what you think of the video. Watch the whole thing to hear the absolute WORST parts about working with @HarryStebbings 😂
Britain has always been great.
The telescope, jet engine and world wide web were all invented here.
And now, a new generation is rising.
Entrepreneurs like @vriparbelli, @matiii, and @jamesdacombe are building the technologies of the future from right here.
There's more to be done and there's more to be built, but I love this country and I love seeing it trying to solve the hardest problems in the world.
LETS GO

Europe has amazing companies. Some of the fastest growing in the world.
But when you go online all you see is Europoor and compliance means.
We’ve lost control of the narrative and it’s time to change that.
It’s time to celebrate the best that Europe has to offer.
Today, with @dealroomco, I'm launching the Scaling Europe Top 50 - the definitive list of Europe's fastest growing companies:
❌ No vanity metrics
❌ No out-dated data
We're collecting actual, recorded 2025 revenue data to generate this list, and we've already had over 120 nominations from VCs across Europe.
Public nominations are now open (link in the comments).
Our goal is simple: To create the most robust ranking of high-growth European tech companies ever produced, and then make as much noise about them as possible.
It's time to change the narrative around Europe.
Super excited to be partnering with @yoramdw and the dealroom team on this, and CHUFFED to have J.P. Morgan and Nebius sponsoring it.
LETS GO
One of Europe's most cracked hackers has just raised $6m from @20vcFund and @seedcamp.
This guy had earned 800k by the age of 23 by legally hacking the likes of Google, Amazon and Netflix.
He was also named Most Valuable Hacker at TWO of Google's Live Hacking Events.
Today he (Roni Carta - @0xLupin) has announced a $5.9m pre-seed.
It's being led by @alexandre_dewez of 20VC and Carlos Espinal (@cee) of Seedcamp.
Europe continues to produce world class talent. It's great to see them get funded and build world class products.
LETS GO
BREAKING: Legora has raised a HUGE $550m Series D at a $5.5bn valuation!
The European company has been on a meteoric rise:
> Raised an $80m Series B at a $675m valuation in May last year
> Became a unicorn in October at a $1.8bn valuation
And now it's valued at $5.5bn.
When it became a unicorn it was the fastest YC company to become a unicorn ever.
Now it's now the fastest to hit a $5bn valuation.
The company is rapidly expanding across the US and this money will be used to further invest in the region.
It is now used by tens of thousands of lawyers each day across 800 customers.
The round is being led by @Accel which is stacking up a large number of the strongest European AI companies including Synthesia, Lovable and n8n.
AMAZING news. European tech is flying right now.
Congrats @WeAreLegora and @MaxJunestrand
BREAKING: Yann LeCun has raised a HUGE $1.03bn round for his new startup, in Europe's largest seed EVER!
It values Advanced Machine Intelligence (AMI) at a WHOPPING $3.5bn!
The company, based in Paris, is aiming to develop the next generation of AI models that go beyond LLMs.
It is aiming to build world models that learn abstract representations of reality, similar to the mental models humans use to reason and guide action in the physical world.
These systems predict how situations evolve, and how actions lead to consequences, so that they can plan sequences of actions under real-world constraints.
It has just announced raising $1.03bn at a $3.5bn valuation co-led by Hiro Capital, Cathay Innovation, Greycroft, HV Capital, and Jeff Bezos Expeditions.
In February it was revealed that UK-based Ineffable Intelligence was raising a $1bn seed. Now French AMI is raising a $1.03bn seed.
Both of these companies are aiming to take AI beyond LLMs, and if they succeed, could build some of the most important technology in the world.
European Tech is COOKING and we love to see it
Wayve has just raised $1.2bn to take on Tesla and Waymo!
The company has just been valued at an $8.6bn valuation as it plans to launch robotaxis in London this year.
It's raised money from a WIDE range of investors including car makers, VCs and Big Tech:
> Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis and Nissan
> Balderton and SoftBank Vision Fund 2
> Nvidia, Microsoft and Uber
It has an agreement with Uber, which "plans to invest in a fleet of robotaxis powered by Wayve’s software that will be deployed in 10 cities in multiple countries, including London".
Its software is also being built into cars made by Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis.
It's competing with Waymo, which recently raised $16bn at a $126bn valuation, although it is taking a slightly different approach, building general technology that can be used other car makers.
Private cars with Wayve's “AI driver” technology will go on sale next year .
Europe is firing on all cylinders and we LOVE to see it.
Great stuff from @timbradshaw and @KanaInagaki
The team at @elevenlabs are aiming to hit $1bn ARR in 12-18 months.
They just surpassed $330m ARR five months after hitting $200m, and raised $500m from @sequoia.

Six months ago I quit my job at @deel to start my own company.
Today I get to announce that Deel are coming on board as my headline sponsor for 2026.
LET'S GO
Alex Bouaziz (@Bouazizalex) is one of the greatest founders to come out of Europe, and the team have played a key role in helping some of Europe's fastest-growing companies scale globally (inc Revolut, Klarna & Legora).
I am VERY grateful to everyone that has liked, watched or supported the @ScalingEurope mission.
European Tech is about to have the biggest year in its history and I am THRILLED to be able to document it.
And I couldn't be more thrilled to have Deel come on board.
Deel X Scaling Europe 🇪🇺
LET'S GO
BREAKING: @elevenlabs is in talks to raise at a WHOPPING $11bn valuation just months after being valued at $6.6bn!
This is WILD.
Four months ago the company announced a secondary sale at a $6.6bn valuation.
Now the company is raising hundreds of millions of dollars at an $11bn valuation.
This is after recently surpassing $330m of ARR,
The company last raised a primary round in January 2025 at a $3.3bn valuation. It then conducted a secondary sale at a $6.6bn valuation in September.
It's now raising at an $11bn valuation, which if it goes through, will make it one of Europe's most valuable AI startups.
What a start to the year for Europe. There's already been four new unicorns and now we're looking at a potential decacorn.
LETS GO 🇪🇺
Great stuff from @IvanLevingston (link below)
I just invested in a startup that is 2 hours old. Pre-revenue. Pre-product. Pre-everything.
I'm streaming live at the Project ElevenLabs hackathon with @Kitty_Mayo_ , Jade Yarrow and the amazing set of sponsors and contributors.
One of the teams is building an amazing product WHILE aiming to raise a pre-seed round in 20 hours.
The team is an amazing set of builders, and includes Aaron Jones who won the last @ProjectEurope_ hackathon and has since sold his business.
The purpose of the hack is to prove that Europe can move FAST so I was very keen to offer to back them first.
It's only £100 so DON'T WORRY my media independence is still in tact, but I am desperate to prove Europe can move fast.
