Thucydides said that the Athenians "were born into the world to take no rest themselves and to give none to others" but frankly that just sounds like a new parent talking.
@zeeg Check out the venerable @wesmckinn 's new thing: https://t.co/n2ATgc2x6C
Not really read/write yet for mail/cal but it's a pretty dope start if you're in an agent loop all day anyway. Besides that there are Gmail CLIs etc.
On your last point... the distillation stuff just seems completely brutal (even if the weights were tractable to protect which... they are not).
It even seems plausible that the smarter the model the less data you need to steal (geniuses recognize genius when they see it).
It's like EUV machines make of oxygen. You kinda have to build a singularity or die.
You're right.
I like FDEs as much as the next person with dozens of @PalantirTech friends over decades but FDEs as they conceive of it (and theoretically as others are now imitating) are overkill for ordinary technology at even ordinary large enterprises.
If you're building regular SaaS with a regular SaaS price point and you do proper FDEs you're very likely to build an SE org you can't hire properly into as you scale (and worse) a product with mushy differentiation and inadequate last-mile fit and finish compared to your competitors.
Hopefully this gets watered down into another Data Science thing where an existing tribe adopts a sexy job title and a new generation of ambitious people can bring pride back to the function.
Excited to share what we've been working on at Method and announce our $26M in funding from Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, Blackstone, and others.
I met @___sjones and Sean ten years ago at @PalantirTech.
We always talked about starting a company together, and when we saw how AI would shift the balance of power in security, we had no choice not to.
We started Method to build the tools that American cyber defenders need to achieve real resilience in the face of autonomous threats.
Two years in, we've put together an incredible team of engineers and operators to go after this mission and are deployed with some of the top security teams in the country.
We're grateful to be backed by investors like who believe that American cyber resilience is a challenge worth solving.
We are just getting started.
Ransomware has appeared in the VS Marketplace and makes me worry. Clearly created through AI, it makes many mistakes like including decryption tools in extension. If this makes it into the marketplace through, what impact would anything more sophisticated cause?

The SleepyDuck code extension malware is an advanced remote access trojan allowing for remote command execution on any endpoint that installs it. Take down the C2 server? It uses an Ethereum contract to update its settings to a new endpoint.
